First of all I love Tony with all my heart. I have been getting my hair cut with him for 7 years now. I moved to NYC 3 years ago and STILL fly down to orlando to get my hair cut and coloured. When I come back New Yorkers ask me where I got my hair done... The music, decor, and even the staff are outrageous. The staff each decorate their own stations, and really express their personalities. If you want a nice relaxing hair cut with some aromatherapy, this place is NOT for you. If you are opposed to having your hair washed under a guillotine then don't come here. Prepared to make friends, and even plans for an evening during the week. Located right outside downtown Orlando, the staff knows everyone and will not hesitate to drag you along for a drink or 12. :) They have a full range of products, but unless you ask you wont even be bothered with the idea of purchase. Shine is very fairly priced as well. Stuffy housewives need not apply as customers- The staff aren't mindreaders either, as you will read when you sign a user agreement with Tonman. Speak up- be specific in what you want, and if youre ever unhappy just tell them and they will make it right.. afterall if it doesnt shine, they didnt do it :P
- Pros: relaxed atmosphere, lively staff, great music
- Cons: can't think of any!
And so I actually came out feeling 10 years younger!

I have a pretty relaxed attitude about hair - it always grows back - so I have been repeatedly disappointed when over the years I have gone to salons and told them to give me the cut they thought would best suit me, and I have given a bob, without fail. It's not like it really was the cut that looked best; it was just simple and safe. So when I went to Shine and gave Tony the same carte blanche, I was delighted when he started looking through style books with me, suggesting cuts he thought would look good, and gauging how adventurous I was actually willing to be. With thought and insight he combined his knowledge with my desires and I ended up with the best cut of my life. Not only the best cut, but also the best color. It's sometimes hard to pull off being a little funky, while still maintaining the professional look necessary for work, but Tony did just that with my cut and color. Come to think of it, that's just how I would describe Shine - a perfect blend of funky-ism and professionalism! Go - you won't be disappointed.
- Pros: Fun place to be, great color, great cut

Best Orlando Hair Salon .... Why?
Shine Hair Salon cuts through the pretentious BS and just does great hair. Not concerned with selling you the latest and greatest product, they do have what you need but only if you need it. This place is about the quality of the service they provide. You won't find any kids (too young to have any experience) asking each other how to mix the right hair color or looking for "someone that knows". Here, they ALL know what they are doing. No debates or testing. You don't need to worry about being someones guinea pig. Shane for example has been a stylist for at least the 10 or 12 years I have known him. Now that's experience. As for Tony the Salon's owner, I would guess he has at least that much time behind the scissors.
<B> Best Orlando Hair Salon<B> without question.
- Pros: Personal Attention, Years of Experience, Attention to Detail
- Cons: Location offers many local drink temptations for after cut
Has my vote!

I can't say enough fabulous things about Shine Salon.
Tony the hair Guru is AWESOME...The entire staff is on top of their game!
Shannon is a definite value add to the salon, she is the most AMAZING esthetician.
I highly recommend this salon to anyone ready to transform from drab to FAB!!!
p.s. this isn't a salon for the "wet blanket" type or perhaps this might be just what, you need...
- Pros: when you leave you'll look amazing
- Cons: maybe a few cons are clients...so? They have wild stories...

The decor in the salon is very fun and creative. The staff are friendly and keep hours that are accommodating to clients. I had color and highlights recently and love the results. Tony was awesome!
- Pros: Great color
Hands down saved my head!!!

I walked into Shine with tragic home lightened hair. My hair felt like it was going to crumble from my head to the floor. I was terrified of my future. Not to mention that my hair was horrific hybrid shade of orangish, pink, with some nice platinum roots. Tony was purely amazing.
First he really listened to what my ultimate goal and did not try discourage me. My favorite part of the overall process that he severely improved my hair's actually state. My hair felt healthier and completely manageable. My hair color was gorgeous and full of dynamic blonde shades. Tony exceeded any blonde image I had in my mind's eye. FABULOUS, FABULOUS,FABULOUS!!!!!
- Pros: I was really taken care and pricelessly happy.
- Cons: addicting..
Place is better than cookie dough icecream!

I have gone here several times to get my haircut by Rachelle, and every time it comes out great! Very entertaining place, it isn't your typical hair salon. Very fun environment and people are really easy to talk to.
This is not the place for you if you need to go to your wine tasting after, and then feed your dog some $100 a lb meat you imported from Italy. This place is fun, conversations get can get raunchy, but still professional. It feels more like you are hanging out with friends while you get professional styling rather than going to a Super Cuts and just go in and your out.
Highly recommend this place and Rachelle!
- Pros: Awesome service, great listeners, great haircuts
- Cons: Maybe hard to find, not very obvious to spot.
better than sneaking into the movies!

i went in with Black dye from a box off the shelf, and Rachelle was able to not only get it out in half the time i expected it to take, but she also managed to bring it to an amazingly beautiful color with highlights as well, and left my hair feeling softer and more conditioned than it ever felt before.
i found the atmosphere in Shine to be awesome; they stylists are very chill and yet very professional, as well, and considering how much time i spent in the salon that day, i'd say they did an awesome job keeping me entertained and making sure that i had everything that i needed.
I like it!

I live in Lake Nona and couldn't find a good salon near by, so I decided to make the trek out to Shine after reading so many good reviews. I called several times before I was able to speak to someone. Seth answered the phone and booked me for the next day. He is an absolute sweetheart. He listens to what you envision for your hair, then offers his suggestions. I had a wonderful time getting my hair cut there. He is very meticulous and knows what he's doing for sure. The place is definitely unique and eclectic...maybe a little too weird for some, but the staff are great. No yuppies allowed here...this is an upscale salon for down to earth people. :)
Anyways, my hair came out fabulous and the price is excellent. I will definitely come back.
Oh yea, word of advice, IGNORE the mapquest directions if you're coming from I4. Part of Park Lake St. is closed for construction for some time, so the easiest way to get there is taking east colonial (SR50) and making a right onto Mills, then it's literally about 2 blocks down on your right, you'll see park lake st. You'll see a little building with a british flag on it. :)
- Pros: Upscale salon for down to earth people
- Cons: They could do a better job at answering the phone
Best haircut I've gotten ANYWHERE
by KristinH at Citysearch
After reading reviews on Citysearch, I tried Shine a few years ago, after having spent years getting my hair cut in New York or Los Angeles. Without a doubt, Rachelle at Shine gave me the best haircut of my life, and I've been a devotee ever since. She has an incredible sense of what works for each of her custumers, but she's also a wonderful listener and does a great job of incorporating customer suggestions/requests. Each time I visit Shine, I'm even happier than I was on the last visit. In short, Rachelle is a genius -- as are the rest of the hairdressers there, all of whom are extremely friendly and talented. In addition to normal cuts, Rachelle has also styled my hair for photo shoots and national TV appearances; I couldn't be happier with her wonderful work, and I'd recommend her to anyone!!
- Pros: GREAT style, reasonable price, fun environment
- Cons: N/A
avoid this salon!!!!!!!
by uberpiber at Citysearch
I left a positive comment before, but I am retracting it due to an exceptionally bad experience I had this week. I received a sub-par style and color from Rachelle, which I confirmed with another experienced professional stylist. When I explained the errors made with the style, the stylist denied that any of them were true, and essentially blamed me for what happened to my hair.
So far, the salon has failed to reimburse me for the work that was done, or for damages. They explained this was not their policy after the fact.
On September 3rd, Rachelle scheduled a follow-up discussion with me to finish our discussion that she did not honor. I left a message for the manager that night - no return call. Now I'm reading comments that suggest that she warned me and I forced her to do the style against her advice - this is not true, and my respect for Rachelle and Shine has dropped even lower. Avoid this salon and stylist - not reputable.
- Cons: Unprofessional, poor work, no refunds, combative
