The worst Italian in Orlando!

We visited for the first time last night - and the last. The pasta was undercooked, there were multiple ingredients missing from both dishes, and the chicken tasted like it was marinated in Coke syrup rather than wine. At $8 per glass for white zinfandel, we could buy a whole bottle! The calimari was chewy and too salty, and everything was too expensive. We didn't even have dessert, and wasted $87 on a very disappointing experience. We've driven by several times and thought it looked like a quaint, elegant restaurant, but we were completely wrong! I highly recommend Silvano's in Altamonte Springs instead.
- Pros: It looks pretty, but the food is nasty!
- Cons: Really expensive and really bad food - not even cooked!

So I went here with a family friend and the employees were very welcoming and the food was great. I loved the dessert and I told all my friends back at work to go visit this restaurant.
Yummy...but where is my waiter?

I was skeptical about trying out Cafe Trestevere after reading a few of the prior comments, but heard about it through a friend who reccomended the place. I am glad my husband and I went to see it for our selves. The food was great, the atmosphere was indeed romantic, and I would certainly recommend this restaurant to a friend. It was a little overpriced and the service was good not great, but I would most certainly return. Thought I would share my experience with others considering I often look on city search before dining at a new restaurant. Check it out for yourself, you shouldn't be disappointed.
- Pros: Food
- Cons: little pricey
Simply Amazing!!!

I have read some mixed reviews on here, including some not so pleasant ones just before mine. I don't know where that person was but it certainly wasn't Cafe Trastevere in downtown Orlando. The 2 reviews before mine seem intentionally made up! I have been a customer for ages and they have been consistently great. Food is always amazing matched with a great atmosphere and service. My wife and I have never been disappointed. Considering the great menu and wine list, the place is actually a bargain.
I've been to many Italian restaurants throughout the US and Cafe Trastevere certainly stacks up.
- Pros: ambience, chicken marsala, service, etc.
- Cons: Not open Sunday
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!

Very bad experience, the air conditioning didn't work, the lighting was very, very poor.....the pasta was ridiculously undercooked....even the vegetables were undercooked(especially the potatoes), they were almost raw!!! The chocolate cake was just a sliver...between the three of us we actually had one piece...for $7.00 I want to enjoy a little more than two bites for dessert!!! A glass of house wine cost as much as a bottle, and they wine we ended up having was practically way above room temperature. After resorting to our horribly tasting waters, the creepy host kept staring at us and made us feel absolutely uncomfortable. On our way out we attempted to use the unreasonable restrooms and found out they don't work properly!!!!
TAKE MY ADVICE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!
- Pros: SERVICE
- Cons: PASTA, BATHROOM, DESSERT, AIR CONDITIONING, PRICES
Romantic Italian

Cafe Trastevere is my new favorite "little Italian place." My boyfriend took me there for dinner the other night and it was fantastic. I've been there before, and I enjoy the food every time. My boyfriend got a seafood dish and I got a pasta dish, and both were spot on in terms of flavor and portions, and the consistency of the sauces were just right. You might pay about a dollar more than average for some of the house wines, but all of the wine is imported from Italy, so what's a dollar, really? The patio was gorgeous and lit up with a cute little fountain, which I demanded we sit next to. =) Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. He made sure we had everything we could possibly want without hovering around too much like some servers do. Amazing food at casual prices, a perfectly romantic, homey setting, and wonderfully nice people make this restaurant one of my top five date spots in Orlando. If you're into going to trendy restaurants and paying double what the food and service are worth just to say you went there, then maybe this isn't the place for you, but if you try it, you'll probably find that you love it as much as I do.
- Pros: Quality of food
TERRIBLE

I have never taken the time to write a review but I felt obligated to tell others that this place was a BIG disappointment and very expensive!!! Yes, it is absolutely cute sitting outside, other than the traffic on Magnolia on the other side of the hedges and abnoxious pedestrians passing by. There were 5 of us just catching a quick meal before going to see a play and I could not believe that the bill came to $200. A glass of house white zin was 8.50. Now, I don't mind paying when the service is good but one person at our table got the wrong meal and then when she sent it back, they forgot to bring her the right one. The food was definitely not the best Italian I've ever had so over all we were very disapointed with the food, the service and the prices. The following night we had a girls night out at the Cheesecake Factory - yummy!
- Pros: Cute outside area
- Cons: loud traffic passing by, parking is in a dirt lot, service was poor, food was poor

This restaurant was great. My boyfriend took me to this place for my birthday after I saw it on this site. I only wish I could control the weather so we could eat outside! We were seated upstairs in our own private room. Be careful when trying to find this place, we almost passed it! The wine selection was good. We ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer. It was a little different but good. I didn't know melons were in that appetizer. I had the Penne alla Vodka which was a great salmon dish. Everyone in our party loved the food and the great service. They even served a slice of cake to celebrate my birthday. I will definently eat there again!
- Pros: Great food
- Cons:
Awful experience

Valentine's Day- We sat upstairs and felt it was decorated like a nursing home. Our server finally brought us menus and water. Much to our surprise it was price fix menu and the choices were far from impressive-nothing with an Italian flare-chicken, salmon, filet medalion and osso bucco. Our soup was cold, the salad had French dressing on it and was awful. Our entree was unimpressive. My filet was about a 4-5 oz skinny little thing and my husband's ozzo bucco tasted like a stew out of a box. Both were served with mashed potatoes which were cold. Then, our dessert was tiramisu that had obviously been sitting, it was all melted and luke warm. Service was awful and we were never asked how our food was to complain.
- Pros: location
- Cons: food, service, loud
