Great location, great food.

Being a resident of Thornton Park, I was very skeptical of Dexter's initially. Peak times at lunch and dinner the entire resteraunt is packed. After eating there, I know why.

The menu has a great variety (from vegetarian eggplant dishes to duck sandwiches) and they are moderately priced for the portion they dish out. Indoor seating gives a great view of art and a beautiful bar, and outdoor seating offers people-watching and a pleasant view of Thornton Park. The wine list is varied and noteworthy, and most are offered by the glass. Our server was also very knowledgable on wine pairing with our menu selections.

All the staff we encountered were friendly and professional, and the overall experience left us wanting more. The first half of happy hour (4-7) is when you'll get the best chance for preffered seating.

Downtown residents and happy-hour revelers gather at this light, airy restaurant for food and drink. Crowds can get thick during weekdays, particularly for tables and booths. If that's the case, head for the bar, or on warmer days, the outdoor cafe, which seats about 20. The kitchen's fare ranges from basic soups, salads and quiche to black-and-white sesame grouper, andouille sausage quesadillas and tempting daily specials.
