Disappointing
by woopiepie
Very disappointed. Although they say on their menu "substitutions cheerfully made" they charge for substitutions! Even if the item you want substituted is cheaper then the the straight from the regular menu item. I will never know how this restaurant got a Best Breakfast review. Cracker Barrel has better food and REAL maple syrup. The muffins are 100% better at Perkins. Pancakes are inconsistent, often tough. Pricey too considering you have to take an entire breakfast and be stuck with things you would never eat, ie the breakfast potatoes. Two thumbs down
- Pros: humm, can't htink of any
- Cons: Pancake syrup, should be real maple, no substitutions
Best place to dodge highway traffic
by mortgagegirl02
Situated right off the 1-4 exit, this is a great spot for meeting people living in any of the surrounding counties: My husband and I on our way commuting through 4 counties to work, had breakfast with my dad whom was also commuting and his old army buddy. ?First Watch? eased the tension of our long commute to work... Hard to believe this quaint establishment was fully packed and yet the service remained excellent (even with the high ratio of patrons to staff). I would definitely suggest trying this place for a nice hot meal and cup of Joe with an old friend. Whether or not you want to dodge traffic; this is the best place to be.
This homey, family-style restaurant chain dishes up some of the city's best--and most affordable--breakfasts around.

In Short
First Watch may serve lunch, but it's their take on breakfast that brings in the diners. Pancakes, made to order with toppings such as blueberry, granola, and bananas, are served in a doughy stack with a selection of syrups. Florida french toast features slabs of cinnamon raisin or sourdough bread sprinkled with wheat germ and piled with fresh bananas, kiwis and berries. The standard bacon and cheese omelet gets a twist with avocado, Monterey jack and sour cream, and chunky home fries are available with most entrees. Lunch is mainly salads and sandwiches.
Best Breakfast in town

Though there is usually a wait for tables, service is so fast you'll never find youself waiting long. And the short wait is well worth it. Plate size pancakes, and excellent belgian waffles are offered for the sweet tooth; crepe eggs for the more adventuresome which is basically a cross between and omelette and a crepe with fillings that include fresh spinach, turkey, and holladaise sauce. The menu also offers mexican fritattas and an excellent choice of items for those that are watching their figures: frsh fruit crepes, egg white omelletes, and oatmeal that even I will eat an I always hated oatmeal. I couldn't imagine a weekend without at least one breakfast from First Watch!
- Pros: Food Quality, Inexpensive, service
