Hi, i'm mark. I've been in the Martial arts Ceter for Health youth class for four years. What I really think is great is the teachers are really nice(yeah!) and you meet a lot of new friends. Whats also great is that you can pick what you want to focus on and really work on it. Like if you really wanted to work on weight loss or self defense the instucter can help you do alot of it. You'll never get bored because here they teach four diferent families of martial arts:Tai Chi, Kung Fu,Bagua, and Qigong. Come by some time and watch a demo and try a class.
Pros: instructors are really nice, meet great friends, and HAVE FUN!!!

I'm a 42-year old father of two children ages 7 and 10 who attend The Martial Arts Center for Health. My experience has been profoundly transformative, both for my children and myself. This place should change its name to Life Arts Center for Health. The emphasis is on physical and spiritual development -- by "spiritual" I mean concerned with or affecting the spirit or soul; not sacred matters, such as religion. The respect and love of self, and others, is what my children have learned in each lesson. They have fun, have made friends, but most importantly, they are acquiring life-skills that give me a peace of mind like no other activity I can expose them to. The emphasis is on taking care of themselves so they can then take care of others. It really needs to be experienced to be understood. I sleep better at night. My children have learned skills necessary to protect themselves, should the unthinkable happen. This is necessary in today's world, but the "martial" (military or warlike) part of the arts isn't the focus. It's the acquisition and refinement of life skills. As a responsible, loving parent you do our best to provide your children with various keys to sucess in life: the keys to a life well lived. The tendency is to focus on the basics, such as: - Important analytical skills: like math and science - Food for the soul: in Art and Music - Enrichment for the Spirit: in literature and philosophy But there's a fourth key: Spiritually Rooted Physical Development. Clear values is what they'll learn. Values are what will guide your child's behavior when no one is there to see what they do, when they know no one can find out. Come and see what I mean for yourself. If you seek to make lasting meaningful changes in your children's health, in their lives; do your family a favor and take time to visit. You'll enjoy a closer relationship with your kids. It's the first step in knowing you've done your best for them.
Pros: Your children will enjoy a richer, fuller life. You'll gain peace of mind.
Cons: There are none.

I am a former student at the Martial Arts Center for Health. I attended the school for a little over 4 years and earned a first degree black belt while there. Too many martial arts schools foccus on fighting, competition and flash. It all looks like something out of a jackie chan movie. Yes i't is amusing to watch, but that's not what martial arts really is! Nobody that gets into a fight ever run's around doing three flips in the air while hitting someone. That's hollywoods version of martial arts. At the Martial Arts Center for Health the instructors teach you how to strengthen your body and mind through holding positions for a period of time, learning and memorizing forms such as tai chi, and pushing you through and beyond your comfort zone. There is of course a foccus on self defense to bring up one's confidence in case of a combat situation, but martial arts is so much more than fighting. The instructors here truly are your friends. I know for a fact that there is not one instructor there that is only in it for the money, they actually care to help you become a better person both inside and out.
Pros: Clean comfortable and fun
Cons: one hour classes too short

I have experience a few martial art schools in my life. The different about this school and the other that I have attended is that . They know everybody name and treat you as an individual. They (the instructors) believe in what they do, is more then a job to them. The enviroment is relaxing and calming. I was told once that the best investment that we can make, is to ourself (body and mind) so that the other investment can be truly appreaciated (homes, cars ect.). No matter what kind of physical problems you are experiencing, they will work with you ,not once making you feel different. Everyone, from the newest member to the head instructor are all respected.
Pros: clean, calming, teamwork
Cons: 1hr. class not enough

I originally got interested by watching my son, age 8, in the youth class. I have been here about 2 years. They teach martial arts as a way to improve your health overall. I learn exercises for strength, balance, mental sharpness and stress release. I also enjoy the self defense techniques and sparring. One great advantage to training here is that the teachers really care about each student and encourage students to value each other instead of competing. If you have questions, the teachers always make time to answer them, even after class. Also, the teachers really know their art and live as examples to the students. I would highly recommend this school for both adults and children.
Pros: Individual attention, Good teachers, reasonable fees
Cons: no morning class

I have been in this school now for almost 2 years and it has been the best time I have ever invested in anything. The instructors care about you and honestly want you to achieve your goals. The classes are structured toward your level of ability and no one ever makes you feel inadequate except perhaps yourself. That just makes you want to work harder and all the students will help you. I know I will! If you are finally looking to make that committment to being what you've always wanted - come on in!
Pros: friendly people, knowlegeable, convenient classes
Cons: small parking lot
