Delicious Food for a Hotel
by cutebirdie
The food here is very good considering it's a hotel restaurant. In fact, the food was better than the food we got at Disney's Hollywood Studio's Brown Derby restaurant, which was far more expensive than the Kona Cafe. The service was quick, desserts were delicious, but the alcoholic drinks were a bit cheap with the alcohol content. I am a light-weight when it comes to drinking and I didn't even get a buzz off their $8.25 drink (which the waiter told me would be a fabulous drink).
- Pros: Food
- Cons: Noisy place--have to shout to your dinner companions to be heard
Food to die for!
by happymommyof3
I do not plan a trip to Orlando without booking a reservation at the Kona Cafe. Whether by myself, or with my children, I have always had a wonderful experience. Wait staff very friendly, food comes out quickly, appetizers, entrees, desserts all to die for. I would highly recommend to anyone.
- Pros: Ambience, parking, service, food.
- Cons: wish they had tables that overlooked the lake to see fireworks.
Terrible for adults
by susan_morris
Our company made a reservation for a table for 20 in a semi-private area for 8pm. (We were told that there would be some separation by giving us a section of the restaurant.) When we arrived at the restaurant, we were directed to five tabes of four, not what we requested and we were not given a "section," as promised. The restaurant was very loud, the service was slow, the waitress was not sharp and also had difficulty opening bottles of wine. The food was mediocre at best. While I understand that this is a Disney restaurant, they should also cater well to adult guests if they plan to have conventions there.
Yum!

The Cream Puffs are a must! And all of their Asian-inspired dishes were fabulous as well!
- Pros: wonderful food, reasonable prices, great service
- Cons: , a bit out of the way
Where in the (Disney) World can you go for a classy meal without maxing out your credit cards? Look no further.

The Scene
Replacing the coffee shop in the Polynesian Resort, Kona benefits from Disney's push to upgrade its food from standard corporate fare. (i.e., extra-tough burgers and chicken that can bounce.) It's still a relatively well-kept secret, meaning no unbearably long lines. But to be on the safe side, call for priority seating.
The Food
The quality and flair of the fare compares with the California Grill--lots of fresh, seasonal ingredients blended with care. Specialties include Asian noodle soup and a selection of pasta dishes and sandwiches. The uniformly outstanding desserts vary from day to day and are arranged on a stone countertop in the center of the restaurant. There's also Kona coffee (along with an array of other flavors) plus a decent selection of wine, another advantage Kona has over other Disney eateries.
- Pros: affordable, fresh food
- Cons: can be crowded
