Great Setting

by scarletreality

So the setting is awesome with a huge aqarium making up one of the walls of the restaurant. You can even see SCUBA divers swimming around and neat sea life (including sea turtles!).

The food is so-so, but it is worth it for just one dinner point from the Disney Dining Plan. I'm not sure that I would pay cash to eat here. We ordered the stone crab as our appetizer...and let me tell you...the color was not at all appetizer nor what normally looks like! Try the chocolate lava cake though...it's awesome and they will even give you the recipe card. The service is good, but very quick (almost like they are rushing you out).

  • Pros: Setting, Lava Cake, Service
  • Cons: Seafood

Of all the ways Disney has devised to remove money from your wallet, this is one you won't begrudge.

In Short
The restaurant is both aquatic and spectacular. Tiers of art deco tables and booths face a tank teeming with tropical fish, rays, sharks, 85 different species of tropical fish, and the occasional scuba diver. Tempting starters include creamy lobster soup and blue crab cakes. Entrees feature upscale seafood selections, such as Maine lobster or seared wild king salmon with pancetta garlic vinaigrette. Fish-phobes can opt for grilled chicken or a steak.

Be one with the fishes...

by bluehensfan

This popular Epcot restaurant serves primarily seafood in a theater-style restaurant with large windows overlooking the salt water tank with fishes, turtles, rays, and sharks eying you while you eat. Be sure to ask for a table down front for the best view. Starters include top notch shrimp cocktail, but only had three jumbo shrimp in it. Entrees included a pretty good salmon and a fair other fish (perhaps sea bass?) but both were subpar to what was served over at the Flying Fish in Disney's Boardwalk resort. The chocolate mousse dessert was fair but overall the meal was not worth the price of being eating fish while being watched by them simultaneously.

$17 for microwaved Mahi and boxed mashed?!

by astartez

All I can say is that the ambience and service at this place rocked! However, having lived in both New England and the Pacific Northwest, I know good seafood, and this was not up to par. I got the grilled Mahi Mahi over "garlic" mashed potatoes with a shitake sauce. The fish was definitely microwaved, possibly put onto the grill for those extra special grill marks for about 10 seconds. The "garlic" mashed potatoes were most certainly from a box, and the was salty enough to think it was just one of those Knorr seasoning packs with some mushrooms thrown in. TERRIBLE! Oh yeah, did I mention that I paid $17 for this crap?

  • Pros: Ambience
  • Cons: Food, Cost

Great Job

by greenmonster98

Me and a friend of mine had dinner at the coral reef back in Feb 18, 2004. It was one of the nicest places i ever been into. The view was great and the food was great. Even Though i made reservations it took us a good 10-15 min to get seated the wait was well worth it. We looked around a little and read the menu. The hostess was very friendly and our server did a good job also. I highly Recommend this place to anyone. It is really to bad that this place is inside the park cause i would stop by more often. The price of the park, and parking gets a little high.

Epcot's seafood star

by diner_mark

If you want good seafood after visiting The Living Seas in Epcot, this is the closest place to be. Beautiful dining room set up against a floor to ceiling aquarium/living seas tank. The food won't disappoint. It was quite satisfying although a bit spendy. Strongly recommend reservations as soon as you know your days to visit. Ask for a table tankside for a once in a lifetime experience that will make you feel as is you are eating underwater. The service was good, although not exceptional. Just adding this to show a need for more attentativeness.

  • Pros: Unique atmosphere, fine dining
  • Cons: expensive, located in Epcot

20,000 leagues under the sea

by albertcondon

dining with the giant aquarium in front of you makes the time fly...divers often come in and talk to you about the aquarium and things they do...kids love seeing the divers come to the window and wave at them while jaws swims beside them....limited kid food so check the menu before you go

eating under the sea

by lillykat

This is a great place to have a relaxing dinner and watch the fish tanks. Try to get a table as close to the tank as possible. Find out when there will be dives.

This is a good place for couples.

  • Pros: fish, food, wine
  • Cons: expensive, can be loud

Coral Reef

by sbelly

Coral Reef is a fun dining experience, since you're surrounded by a fish-filled tank, but compared to other dining possibilities at Epcot, it's not the best choice. The menu is a tad bit more expensive than other sit-down locations in the World Showcase and somewhat limited.
