Orlando >Baby Grands Dueling Pianos
Never. Going. Back..
I've been to Baby Grands twice. Both times, I've had issues with trying to pay my bill. Both times, the initial bill given to me was grossly incorrect, overcharging me by at least $20. The first time it happened, the server and manager fixed it quickly, and without hassle. I was so happy with their response that I tipped the server a significant amount.
The second time it happened was so unpleasant that I am never going back.
We arrived with a large party during the "Happy Hour" party they host pretty much every night. Btwn 6-8, we got in free, and enjoyed half price and discount specials on drinks and appetizers. We told our server from the beginning that we did not want to pay with credit card, that we were going to pay cash. She said no problem, but she'd need to hold our card just in case. Fair enough.
Halfway through the night, they switch servers on us, and continue the tab without closing out the original server. Don't ask me how that makes sense or is fair to the first server. We tell our second server that, just as we told the girl before her, we'd be paying cash. Again, "no problem."
Our bill comes, and it is $25 higher than it should be. I try to point this out to the server, and she proceeds to try to make me "see" that she's right, this plus this equals this, and then you get this number, blah blah blah. Multiple times, I showed her that her math was wrong. A manager gets involved. They lower the amount, but not by anywhere near accurate, apply our giftcard, and give us a total. I give the server my cash, and unknown to me at the time, the manager was handing my husband the credit card slip to sign. He signs it, not aware that I already paid the server in cash (his mistake).
Three days later I see the charge on my card and set out to correct the err. After multiple emails over the span of many weeks with the Sales/Marketing Manager, Alex Mabry, we come to what I thought was a compromise. Since they had a signed receipt and weren't obligated to refund the money, but we did pay twice (after having to fight about our bill- something that shouldn't have even happened in the first place), Alex offered to give us a "credit" to come back. I expressed my appreciation for Alex's determination to see this err corrected, and waited over a month for a reply, detailing our credit and how to redeem it.
I never heard back.
I gave them ample time to fix this mistake. I would have paid less had I just paid the incorrect amount in the first place. Instead, I paid $140 for $60 worth of drinks. NOT OKAY by any standard, and the service definitely did not warrant a $80 tip.
Lauren was our first server, and she did a great job. I don't know why they switched it around.
Carrie was our second server, and she did well, although she totally lost it all in our book when she called us "sweetie" and tried to talk down to us while explaining her math (which was all wrong)
Leo was the manager that night who was "helping" sort out our bills (by the way, the FOUR other paying customers that were part of our group ALL had incorrect bills that they tried to correct).
Alex Mabry was the contact person I'd been emailing back and forth since MAY 16. It is now almost 3 months later. Absolutely unacceptable.
I will never go back, and the people who I was there with that night have already said they'd never return. Friends of mine that frequent the downtown Orlando scene often, have all said they will never go to Baby Grands again, and will tell their friends not to.
I'm thinking this is SOP for them. Disgusting.
