We went to buy some of the fish and the guy working was the rudest person I have ever come across and had a smirk on his face as he made the most sarcastic and rude comments. This isn't the first time this has happened and it seems the employees are really racist to people who are not Chinese. He ignored us and helped a woman who walked up 5 minutes AFTER us and then didn't even help us until we asked him multiple times. I am never going back again. Dong A on Colonial has just as good of a selection and the employees are helpful and nice.
The worst service in the world in the 1st Oriental Supermarket. I am Chinese, but I have to speak out here. I bought a can of lemon honey tea. The taste was horrible when I opened it. I was wondering why? It is supposed to be delicious because I often bought this when I was in Michigan ( I just moved here 2 weeks ago from Ann Arbor). When I looked at the expiration date, Oh my... March 3, 2013. Only a few days left. Chinese female boss said,'"You cant return it since you opened it.Today is Feb. 20, 2013. blah..." even I said the taste was horrible. Her face was rigid. She talked to me like I am a trouble maker there. I left the product on the count and walked away with frustration. It was only about $4. If she said sorry to me, I might feel better even I couldn't get my money back. I shamed on her behavior as a Chinese. She better not say she is Chinese here. Another thing I need to mention here, there are a lot of products which are going to expire (less than 1 month). They should put a sign to remind the customers, otherwise they are trying to trick customer. Now I am trying to avoid going there if I can buy stuff in other places. It is a pain in the bottom because I love Chinese food. I told my friends in Ann Arbor," I want to run an excellent Chinese grocery store with the best service ( ????????) if possible because I don't want people from other countries think Chinese are liars.
Oriental Supermarket. Fresh Asian Market is a combination of deli counter, restaurant and small grocery. Fresh Market is known for it's produce, but it has so much more to offer. Their small but very tasty menu is perfect for take-out or lunch. You just can't beat a healthy Asian diet. They usually have at least four kinds of fresh Tofu, including my favorite, Japanese. Sushi is made fresh, in house, and you can taste the difference. Vareity is good, but I wish it was a bit cleaner.
