Ocoee >Tamboras Grill Cafe
Over-Priced Greasy Food & Poor Management.
Being of Cuban decent I was excited and curious to try Tamboras when my dad gave me a coupon. When we arrived the place was totally empty at 8pm. My girlfriend and I were seated in a vacant dining room. That should have been a telling sign.
The food was mediocre at best. You know its not a good dinner when the salad is the best part. I orderd the Blackened Mahi...that was under cooked and was barely even seasoned...a far cry from "blackend". The rice and beans we not good. The tostones tasted like they were frozen and not fresh and were super-greasy.
The fried pork chunks, "masitas de puerco" were simply the worst I've ever had. You're better off going to a gas station on Oak-Ridge Rd. The sweet-potato fries were good, ironically the only non-Latin item we ordered.
To make the experience even worse, they wouldn't honor the coupon. When i spoke to the owner to express my disscontent, I thought maybe he might take our sodas off the check to smooth things over. Instead, he was unapologetic. He lectured us on why he shouldnt have to incur needless expenes to please people. He claimed he was a great business-man and that his restaurant was thriving and the talk of the town...basically implying that he did not care if we were dissatisfied because he doesnt need out business.
Tamboras was a negative life-experience. I will never go back there and would never recommend it to anyone. STAY AWAY.
Great Place to Take Family or Date.
My family and I love this place. We usually take friends when they come in from out of town or someone mentions they're in the mood for some good Spanish food.
One family we took has been going back almost weekly ... we go every now this way we have time to try different places, but this one is definitely in the top ten of the local spots to try.
It's a great place to have dinner with the family or meet up for a date. Their bar is off to the side, with it's own small tables ... away from the families and with more privacy. It lends itself to making a great first impression.
best food. I love this place! It has the best food in the Orlando area -no doubt. The menu is also creative and the staff is great. You will not be disappointed. Pick anything on the menu; you can't go wrong. The churrasco is my personal favorite.
Awesome Food!. I am latina and lived in Miami so I know good food when I try it and this was GREAT food! If you are looking for latin cuisine this is the place to come. They also have American food as well. One con thing is that it is a bit pricey for the location it is in. It's not in Dr.Philips area. Also I didn't like the fact that they have a huge sign stating that kids eat free if you order 1 entree which we did however since we had a my city eats gift certificate they could not give my child a free dinner. Which does not make sense to me since it is a gift certificate NOT coupon. My family owns 5 restaurants in NYC and one concept I did learn from them is that the customer is always right. Also our waitress was a bit clueless, she did not know what the food was on the menu (she was new so I let that one go), but she was very nice. One thing I did like was when they brought out a free salad compliments of the chef. So if you don't mind the prices and want good food this is the place to come.
