Editorial Review for Village Tavern – by Elisha Pappacoda
In Short
It's not often Floridians can dine fireside, but at the new Village Tavern, a crackling fire beckons diners to enjoy comfort foods in the confines of this warm establishment. Our friendly server, Freedom, informed us that "nothing is frozen except the ice cream," and that all steaks are aged and cut in-house. From fried oysters to oyster po-boys and flank steak to steak frittes, everyone will find something they love on the extensive menu. Try the heaping plate of Roasted Lamb Rib Chops with balsamic-mint glaze, but forgo the flatbreads for more satisfying specialties like Maryland Crab Cakes and the Maple Cured Pork Chop. The libations menu includes the recently legalized Absinthe Drip.

Very nice atmosphere; however, the food is terrible. We ordered the blackened chicken alfredo pasta, shrimp risotto, grilled chicken with rice and broccoli and the braised short rib dinners. All of the meals were very bland. The chicken in all of the meals was over cooked and very chewing. They were out of mash potatoes which I hear are very good. The bread is given upon request, which we ordered. There were 4 people at our table and they only brought us 3 rolls. Our server was below average and it took a long time to get our food. Maybe it was just a bad night but I won't be returning to this establishment.

My wife and i decided to try Village Tavern, the new restaurant near the mall at millenia last wednesday evening. Not knowing what to expect we were pleasantly suprised. We sat at the bar and orderd two glasses of wine and we were informed that it was" wine down wednesday" and our glasses were half price. To wine lovers like us this alone would have been enough to keep us there. We had a couple of appetizers, the bacon wrapped scallops and the crab cake, both were fantstic. The attmosphere was great, they had live music that was entertaining ,but not intrussive or too loud. From the food to the wine and the service everything was perfect. We highly recomend Village Tavern to anyone looking for something new and different in orlando.
Pros: Friendly genuine service,Food
Cons: None that we found
