In Short – The dining room is cavernous and warmly lit, adorned with three live ficus trees and decor that resembles stacks of elegant wooden Jenga blocks. The bar boasts flat screen TVs and offers 100 beers, 40 wines and a full selection of liquor. The patio is reminiscent of a South Beach cabana, with flowing curtains, plush lounge chairs and fire pits overlooking the lake. Try the Grilled Double Cut Pork Chop or the chicken sandwich, a thick breaded cutlet with melted gouda cheese and green apples. –

Absolutely Wonderful

by Betsy0007 at Citysearch

My husband and I needed a romantic night out. We were vacationing without the children and after two recommendations, which turned into uneventful and expensive dinners, we decided to find our own romantic spot. I did some searching online and found Dan's Tavern on the Lake. It was an early Sunday evening and when we called for a reservation found they were having a jazz fest that day. We were up for something different and headed straight over. We had the best table in the house and our waiter "Tyler" was excellent. This was may of 2009 and I remember every minute. The musicians were on the patio and we were seated inside with a view of the whole scene. The food was amazing, the drinks perfect. The music, the clientele, "Tyler the waiter" the food, the price. Best time we've ever had.

We are heading back to Orlando on Sunday 9/26 and we are going back to Tavern on the Lake. We can't wait. Soooooo excited.

Disappointment! Far better places in the area

by Jenna083 at Citysearch

Disappointment! I can't believe I wasted my time leaving Sand Lake area to go to this place! I have no problem spending alot of money when I go out but when the service and what you get is so below what I expected. this place in the middle of an area that has so many great places, so they need to step it up.....a few hundred notches. Sand lake area so much better. I recommend timpanos, and especially vines! Beautiful and friendly staff and for the prices you get what your paying for! Esp if your going out for some drinks and wine.

Amazing romantic evening!

For our 25th anniversary, I made reservations at Tavern on the Lake (formerly Dan Marino's). Let me just say, thank God they dropped the Marino's name. The food is so much better! I had the salmon which was easily the best I've ever had. My wife had the pork chops which she loved. The Chef found out it was our anniversary, so he sent out a special chocolate dessert that he made himself! We love this place!!!

Beautiful place - overpriced food - left hungry

by aroundthetownwithbillnmy at Citysearch

First let me say that the entire restaurant is beautiful. My husband and I were big fans of Dan Marino's other restaurant which was on International Drive and thought we would try the Tavern on the Lake. We ate outside which is very comfortable as well. Our server was very pleasant and on top of things but was paying too much attention to another table which had more patrons which left us waiting a good length of time. Although we are not typical drinkers, we thought our drinks were extremely small and weak for the price and did not carry over the quality from the International Drive restaurant. My husband sent his drink back twice. Our meals were delicious but again, we were still hungry (and we are petite eaters). Again, the portion size does not compare to what was given at the International Drive restaurant. As a matter of fact, we ordered an appetizer "after" dinner???? This restaurant would be a great first date spot but overall, I don't we would go again. Too much money to leave hungry.
