Not Your Usual Truck Stop. McCarty?s "Truck Stop" Restaurant off of OBT, might seem like a normal greasy spoon type place, with the big sign that reads "truck Stop" and a dozen semis parked outside, but never judge a book by it's cover, or a restaurant by its outside. I happened to go here on a whim of wanting to try a new place. Once inside you are greeted by the friendly server / family member of the owner, Chef Pete, with a smile and a welcome that makes you feel more like you were their childhood friend rather than a complete stranger. With one look at the menu I knew I found a winner; breakfast all day, ribs, steak, soul food, "award winning burgers", and the best part...the prices. I'm talking a platter of ribs with 2 sides and a roll for less than $10! But I had to try one of the "award winning burgers." After taking the first bite into the burger, I could see just why they were award winning...SO GOOD! And even the way it looked was delicious. It looked more like it was a plate from a fancy bistro rather than a truck stop. I took an order of banana pudding home for dessert; way to full to eat it there, and it was equally as good. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is in the mood for great tasting food and very friendly service for an amazing price.
