An open kitchen churns out wood-fired pizzas and fresh-made pastas at this casual Sicilian-American chain..
In Short
Decorated with family photos of founders Damian Mandola and Johnny Carrabba, the open dining rooms pack groups of friends and extended families into four- and six-person tables and booths; smaller parties or couples can grab stools at the open kitchen's adjoining bar to watch chefs make dinner. The traditional southern Italian menu offers grill specialties like steak Marsala and fire-roasted chicken breast with sun-dried tomatoes; pasta dishes include fettuccine Alfredo and garlic-sauteed shrimp with linguine.
Paying a tip for carryout? Are they insane................
So, I felt like ordering Carrabba's today, and they got angry because I didn't want to give them a tip, as I just ordered a pizza for carry out. I mean, wtf? Who in their right minds gives employees tips for carry out? Oh yes, what did they tell me...I was rude, as they took their time to put my food in a paper bag.
So does, this mean I have to give every grocery clerk a tip too? So, I ended up just giving them a tip and let them know that what they were doing was wrong. You don't beg for a tip for carryout orders. I work in the hotel right behind it (Comfort Suites), and I'll let the guests know not to go to their restaurant as they are criminals.
Delicious. This is our 2nd visit to Orlando in the last year. We first discovered this Carrabba's Italian Grill last year and drooled to return. So this year when friends asked us to join them in a trip to Orlando, we happily accepted, hoping that we could once again visit Carrabba's. However we didn't remember where it was, so it was an adventure locating the ONE Carrabba's that we knew had delicious food and outstanding service. We were NOT disappointed. Fabulous on all counts. Wish we had a Carrabba's in Oregon.! Thanks.
Not the best Italian I've had.... ...but it was by no means the worst. I had some sort of grilled basil chicken dish, which was fairly good. The waiter, though friendly and jovial, treated us like complete idiots because we were tourists. "Do you know how to use this menu?" Errr...no, never used a menu in my life.
Best Kept Secret.
We would have never known that Carrabba's had steak. It is indeed the best. Good quality meat and cooked to perfection every time we have eaten it. Do you know that they are owned by the same company as Outback? Their steak is better. Outback should take lessons from the chefs at Carrabba's....maybe at outback have on the menu
"Steak Carabba style"
