Great Bento Box Lunches – I usually go to Amura for a nice dinner out with my wife and recently realized that they are open for lunches. I love their sushi so I took a buddy of mine for a business lunch and ended up getting one of their bento boxes instead. I only paid 8.99 for my meal and it included rice, vegetables, salad, California roll, and my chicken teriyaki. I thought the price was really reasonable for such a nice place and good food.
Had the Best Time – I recently went with my friends to Amura in Lake Mary. The hostess were friendly and showed us to our seats. The server was prompt to our table. The music was good the food and service was even better. We were joking with our server and had a great time. Their sushi is the best sushi I've had. Their portions are also good for the money. I loved their Rolls Royce Roll. Will definitely be going back.
Worst service ever! – This restaurant has the worst service ever! I would not recommend it to anyone. I ordered a roll with no masago and it came out with masago on it. When I politely told them they made a mistake they took it to the back and said we tried to get off as much as we could but gave me the same roll back. Really?
Good Sushi - HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!! – We had a party of 9 so we made reservations for 7:30. We did not get seated until 8:40 and waited for a server to greet us for 10 minutes. Our order was finally taken at 9:15 and we received our food around 10 PM. Maybe thats why we thought the food was so good...because we were so hungry! A few of the girls don't like sushi so they got the chicken rolls. They were dry and had no seasoning.
The General Manager lied right to my face about the delay in getting our table set up. When I approached him to tell him that I didn't appreciate the lie, he said, "Okay" and then walked away from me. He was so unprofessional and offered no apology of any kind.
I asked the server if she could get us a few appetizers quickly and for free, she said yes and then the appetizers showed up on my bill. I told the server that I was not going to pay for them and to take them off the bill. She did not. My friend and I split our items and the bill. She put $50 on her credit card and I paid $50 in cash. The leftover amount was $20 (for the 2 appetizers she charged us for) in which I wrote a note on the receipt because the GM was too busy to talk to me.
I just found out today that my friends card was charged $92 and change. That is much more than should have been charged. I WILL NOT BE GOING TO THIS AMURA LOCATION EVER AGAIN.
Wasn't impressed, maybe I need to try it again... – I'll admit that the food was good, but the service was terrible. We didn't have to wait for a table and we got there way before the rush, but we waited for 20 minutes for our drink order to be taken. And then over an HOUR for our food. Then when it was time for the check to be brought, we waited another 30 minutes for that. The waiter was also less then friendly, which irritated me because they added 18% tip on and he was NOT worth that much. Not by a long shot.
Best sushi ever! – I love this place! I've been there 10-15 times, with my husband, friends, family. Small place, but very good sushi!
ooops....i thought i commented on Amura in Orlando (Sandlake). Sorry : )
Great Rolls, Great Sushi, No Great Boats... – I love Amura. I eat here all the time, and consider myself a "real" sushi eater; however, I normally share a boat with my husband, but most of their boats come with a California Roll, which is a waste of my time. We can normally get out of there for under $60 which is nice. This is a great place to go if you want fancy rolls, and a great ambiance, but if you're looking for plain Nigiri Sushi, there are plenty of other great places around Lake Mary to choose from.
Great sushi & more – My husband and I went there last night for our anniversary. I must say that after a rocky start I was very impressed. Our first server was not very friendly and seemed put out by the fact that we were taking our time selecting from the sushi menu. (It was our first time at this restaurant) Then when we were ready we couldn't seem to find him. We then saw Anne Marie walking by & she asked if we needed anything & proceeded to take our order. She was great, friendly and answered our questions. We luckily kept her as our server for the rest of our visit.
The brainstorm roll is my new fav. My husband had the Osso Buco which was delicious & I had the Chilean sea bass w/ black bean sauce which was fabulous. We shared a caramel ice cream bomb for dessert that was also delicious. The food was also presented beautifully and the portions were very ample.
I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the first server that we encountered and the dance music which seemed to be a tad loud. (The dining area was near the bar)
We will be back & asking for Anne Marie.
Great Hibachi Grill with Regular dining seating & bar – I really enjoy this location over the Dr. Phillips location. The setting and layout is a lot better and the restaurant is much more open and inviting. There are 2 bars with 1 being a large sushi bar. With the regular seating it makes this restaurant stand out over the likes of Kobe & Shogun. The sushi is very good and hibachi chef's are excellent. Usually on weekends you can find a seat in one of the dining rooms with out getting there early.
Best sushi hands down – This has to be the best sushi in town. If you love sushi, you need to try it. You'll never want to go anywhere else. The atomosphere is just as great.
