Lil Sammies thieves from the Lil people. Due to this stores location on the corner of 5th and Highland st in Mt Dora, not to mention the very unstructured parking area. It is basically a risk for your bumpers life entering or exiting this store. Once upon entering and overcoming your anxiety attack to safely park your unharmed vehicle you will be welcomed by 1 of 2 people. The owner or his son. Conveniently both named Jerry. Both men are very welcoming and friendly, although the store being one of two located in this small area and frequently visited by the locals it has been a hot spot for the owners to take advantage of its loyal patrons. They have been well known for extending tabs to the hard working lower class in order to buy the babies milk or that 6 pack the day before the paycheck arrives, but have also gone over and behond in charging up to 30 % interest. Living locally I have personally heard of many owing triple back as to what they where credited. Now alot may say "well this is what happens when you are extended credit" But I have also witnessed that extra 30 % going in the pocket and not the cash drawer. I have never personally needed to be at the mercy of their "loan of kindness" but I was very upleasently shocked when I was in a desperate need to cash a small check, and as equally shocked to find out it was my responsibility to pay back the "credit issued" by an friend of mine. I was aware that Jerry would be charging me the minimal check cashing fee, I wasn't aware that he would be taking out an additional 35.00 for my friends tab. Now keep in mind, this was a friend. Not my husband, not my son, no one of blood connection, but an aquaintance of mine. Not that this makes it any more illegal. They had no desire or plan to return my funds, actually they made it impossible for me to take my check back and take it anywhere else by stamping and writing all over it. I tired to resolve the issues with them with out contacting the local police department, but they had no desire to even listen to me. Instead they refused to speak to me, they refused to inform me of their leagal last names since it is very apparent they are foreign. Small towns are know for being quaint cities. Sadley enough Mt Dora is being polluted by dishonest merchants taking advantage of the same people giving them the opportunity to live out their dream in the U.S. So personally speaking, save your bumper and your bank account and go around the corner. Same prices, same products and you will leave with the right amount of change.
