Editorial Review for Bella – by Randi Schmelzer
In Short
Described as "Dolce junior meets Fred Segal," this indoor-outdoor eatery from restaurant-development phenomenon the Dolce Group (Dolce, Geisha House) features salads, pastas and Northern Italian entrees, many with Mediterranean accents. Designed by Gaucho Grill's David Maman to evoke an airy Roman attica, the cafe offers a much-needed midday alternative to the neighborhood's pizza-sub-burrito lineup. As the sun sets, attention turns toward light suppers and wine, served al fresco in a European-style garden courtyard.

So, this is my third Dolce restaurant. I thought i'd check them all out to see if the group knows what they're doing. I liked this place. Intimate space, nice ambiance, and good food. Had the bow tie pasta, which was amazing. Not too greasy and had that clean flavorful taste. And couldn't eat enough of that bread and dipping sauce they give out when you sit! My date had the salmon, which was good too.

Food was typical for L.A.... nothing special to note. For those prices, you'd expect it to taste good. I love how people are surprised when food actually tastes good these days - it's like, we've forgotten that instead of it being a variable, that element should be a GIVEN. Service was bad. Drinks were okay - again - for the price, you should be getting a Golden Goose Egg with your martini. Overall - not impressed. I'd go someplace else for the money.
Pros: L.A. scene
Cons: Bad service, food was whatever, drinks did not meet standards.
