Easy-listening eats for rock-themed resort cafe..
The Scene
Ceiling-mounted stage lights and aprons of past celebrity guests on the walls set the star-centric tone for the Hard Rock Hotel's restaurant. Stainless-steel tables are paired with cozy earth-toned booths and surround an open-hearth kitchen. Service is sporadic and the staff seems less than knowledgeable about how dishes are prepared.
The Food
Menu options, from mac and cheese to 20-ounce T-bone steaks, strive to appeal to all ages and tastes. A bruschetta appetizer with wild mushrooms, truffle oil and shaved Parmesan succeeds, as does the chicken-chorizo quesadillas with sweet roasted corn, tomatoes, black beans and spicy salsa. The seared grouper and shrimp is hit-and-miss: the perfectly spiced and cooked fish has but one shrimp for company. The flatiron steak on a mound of thick french fries tends to get overcooked by two steps. But the Key lime tart and walnut cheesecake are spot-on perfect.
