Bad is not enough to decribe their food and service.. I doubt the people giving 5 stars to this restaurant are the real customers. I think the 5 star reviews are written by the insiders of this restaurant or someone who has never tasted any thing better than the dog food. As you enter this place, it appears like a very simple informal place but wait till to sit down and see the menu, the prices are vey high. Things that we expect to be free, like chutney are $3. (imagine paying extra $3 for Ketchup at McDonalds). All food tastes the same, because they use the same gravy for their recipes. The hostess was rude to my wife. Water was served warm, as they did not have courtsey to add ice to the tap water when the outside is 95 degrees hot. We ordered tandoori roti which was very small, $5 per order of 2 chapattis. You cannot order one. I think their attitude towards Indians is worse than towards the Americans. The waitress who was punjabi like us did not initially let us choose naan instead of rice. But we heard an other waitress offering this to an American customer at the next table, we asked our frowny waitress about this and only then she gave us the naan. This is a rip-off place.
My worse experience ever.
My worse experience ever.. This restaurant is really bad...Never even think of going there.
Most of the food was stale and no taste at all just chilly.
All the dishes (subzi or dal or rice) were more than $17 and they were for single serving.
Quantity was so less, that 1 person has to spend min of $30 for such a bad food.
Service was also terrible, the staff is so rude. They wont serve Water/Pickle/Onion unless you ask them.
Sply there is 1 waiter - tall-dark (Sheaf Singh), he is really a mannerless rude waiter.
If the owner Taj India Resturant at International Drive wants a detailed decription of my experince mail me at hitzzz@aol.in.
Taj Indian, Shalimar, Passage to India.
If I had a chance I would give this a zero rating. We stumbled on this place(there were all but 2 tables, empty) craving for some authentic Indian food & got a rude shock. Firstly the prices on the menu made me gasp, the portions were very small & the service non existent(no refill on rice even). what was worse was the 15% exorbitant tip for the non-existent service. Avoid this place like the plague. This & the other "Indian" restaurant down the road called Shalimar. Dont even venture into this one iether, the same exorbitant prices..these turned out to be cheats as well. We ordered takeout & were shocked to see that they had packed, charred naans, missed one of the items, but didnt miss charging us ...go figure
Restaurants to avoid for the Disney travellers. Hope this is helpful
Shalimar.....(golimaar)...screw them
Taj Indian Punjabi...whatever
Passage to India(IVY Bronson hwy)...spoilt food , zero customers
Total rip off.
I was vacationing in Orlando and my wife was missing some real Indian food. I looked up some Indian restaurants in the international drive and after driving for a while accidently got into this one.
When I saw the prices, my first impression was maybe its all so expensive because of the high quality of the food despite the rather mediocre looks of the restaurant itself. The service was pretty bad but I was still waiting for that tasty punjabi food. Anyway when the food arrived, I realised that its not worth anywhere near the prices they are charging. I left half the food at the table and asked for the check. Thats when the real shocker came. They have automatically added a 15% tip to the check and this amount is taxable too. I asked the manager what this amount was and he gave me a cold face and was pointing to a printed line in the menu which say the management has the right to do so. Since I was not interested in any more arguements I paid up and left silently. Me and my wife spent 60$ on an uneaten meal and some really bad attitude.
Well.. anyway I had a feeling that maybe these guys have this restaurant open to rip off unknowing tourists who will be one time visitors. I decided to post this message if it will warn someone who might be looking for Indian food while in Orlando
