Dr. Henry Levine has a background that boasts some of the best colleges and medical schools. But his excellence as a physician is also enhanced by his ability to deal with complex issues and difficult medical problems with a calm and confident manner. One of the few physicians board certified in three different specialties, he knows how to deal with people in distress and make things better emotionally as well as medically. He is an example of what good communication and followup is all about. His office reflects his professional manner by treating his patients with respect and true concern. As a Northeasterner, we were not used to this type of treatment and even among Florida doctors he is well above the average. One hears statements in his office like, "He is the doctor to see when you really are sick" and "I didn't get any results from my other doctors; finally, I am getting better and he treats the whole patient...not just a disease." If you have a tough problem with Crohn's Disease or irritible bowel syndrome, it is worth getting a second or third opinion from Dr. Levine.

Dr Levine is not your usual gastroenterologist. He examines your history and shows an intense interest in knowing you as a person. His method of arriving at a diagnosis is much like Dr. House on the great television series. By studying your information and all the data available he will make a differential diagnosis that rivals average physicians. His background of being Board Certified in three specialities: internal medicine, pediatrics, and gastroenterology demonstate that he is a medical scholar and a credit to his medical school...John Hopkins University. What we liked about his approach is that he is not an alarmist and looks to improve his patients health out of caring and by recommending the minimal amount of testing and medicine and the greatest amount of common sense dieting and exercize. He will notice, for example, that the patient's AIC (three month diabetes level) is high and recommend a plan to lower it. His entire office staff is committed to making your visit a pleasant one despite the fear you might be having. In our case we moved from New York and had to have records faxed to the office. The office staff made an extra effort to retrieve those records even though the originating doctor's staff was not cooperative. At each stage the office called back to relate the progress it was making and finally got the records in time for the visit. When it came time to schedule a sonogram, the hospital didn't take our insurance, but the person stayed with us until we were scheduled with a radiologist who did and got us in the next day. Dr. Levine will catch your attention by his intense love of medicine and of reaching the core of his patient's desire to be healthy. He is truly a credit to the medical profession. There are not many like him and we pray for his continued health and energy to touch as many lives as he can. Dr. Levine combines modern medicine with old time caring that is so rare today.
Pros: Excellent doctor with friendly staff and incredible office.
Cons: We moved to Florida and didn't have him as our physician in New York.
