The Scene – Far from the maddening (tourist) crowds, Taquitos Jalisco is next to a laundromat in a nondescript Winter Garden strip mall. Inside, red tile floors, cloth-covered tables and a large "cabana" bar make up for the charm that's missing on the outside. Servers are personable and accommodating, but can't make up for a lack of speed in the kitchen. Be prepared to fill up on chips and salsa while you wait. – – The Food – The menu is inspired by the flavors of proprietor Servando Lupercio's home state of Jalisco, Mexico. Popular dinners include the burro…

White Bread & Milk Americanized Food

by Mareemoon at Citysearch

After reading some of the other reviews we figured this would be a good choice. But there was nothing good about it...

Boring Flavorless Chips to go with the Boring Flavorless Watery Salsa.

The Menu..Basic Boring Mexican Food and NO Vegetarian Items.

I ended up with Vegetable Fajitas..not on the menu.

A greasy pile of peppers, onions and tomatoes served with 3 little tortillas, beans that looked like baby poop, a little serving of rice, and a dollop of sour cream & guacamole. None of this had any flavor or hint of spice. And they charge me $13 for that mess.

We won't be back.

Good food. Wed. is the best time to go- get there early because of the rush- don't sit close to the door or you'll have butts in your face waiting for a seat while you eat. Damn good food. Good parking. Wed. lunch specials are the best.

Yummy affordable mexican cuisine

by KRodGman at Citysearch

When my boyfriend orginally told me about this place I was hesitant one-because I wasn't fond of the area and two-because I'm picky about my mexican food. I decided to try it out and now everytime my boyfriend asks where I want to go for dinner on date night I almost always suggest this place. I'm hooked on the cheese enchiladas! Its family owned and the service is always quick and friendly. I would suggest this place to anyone looking for an affordable authentic mexican meal.

Not even close to great.

I'm from New Orleans and we are used to eating out a lot. After 13 years in Orlando we've come to not expect too much from most of the food. We had friends tell us that this place was really good so we tried the location just a few miles from us in Winter Garden. It was a Thursday night and they had an ok crowd so i was thinking "maybe it will be really good." Not. I'm not gonna mix feelings about the service and stick with simply judging the food. The service was acceptable and i'd rank it average but the food.... I'm not a big drinker but i do love a good 'rita so we both ordered a house margarita. It had no liquor, period. There is no way it could have had any, none, nada, just country time lemonade. I also love good chips and salsa so i was looking forward to some excellent chips, nope, they serve generic T0stit0s from Sam's or somewhere, no warm, crispy, fresh-fried chips here. The salsa(?) if you could call it salsa. I will try to describe it the most accurate way i can. Watered down tomato juice, with some dried minced onion soaked in it and a dash of T0basc0 sauce. I actually ended up using the bottle of Melinda's sauce plain to put on the chips since you couldn't get any of their stuff to stick to the chip at all. So far, not so good. I ordered the enchilada platter cause it figured that's a staple and pretty hard to mess up. Wrong. Cold tortillas from the store, thick and floury and not even close to homemade. The beef in the enchilada was exactly that...gound beef. Not a hint of seasoning that i could detect...just browned ground beef in a tortilla. Not even any sauce to speak of on it...served dry. I ate the cheese enchilada just to not waste the whole plate. The beans were pasty and bland and the rice was Mahatma or some other store bought mix. I ate nothing else. My wife had the Chili Rellanos or i should say ordered them. I know "relanno" simply means "re-filled" but she was expecting stuffed with cheese... if they used any it had long run away leaving only an over-battered, mushy chilli with an empty heart. We paid, left, and won't return.

Terrible with a capital "T"

by Samirella1 at Citysearch

My roommate and I used to frequent the Metrowest location back when we lived near the area. When we moved to Winter Garden we were pleased to notice this other location. Tonight I went with a friend expecting the same delicious Margaritas, Chips and Salsa and Entrees. Let's just say tonight's experience was an epic FAIL.

When our waiter brought our margaritas to our table, I should have known we were not in for a delicious experience. The color of the margaritas was similar to what you would expect Lime Kool Ade to look like...which is interesting since that's exactly what it tasted like! Lime Kool Ade with no liquor. I would think a Mexican restaurant stating "Home Made" would have enough pride to make their margaritas from scratch...instead of being cheap and lazy and using a mix (I really think it was Kool Ade. I let our waiter know exactly what it tasted like and ordered a Chardonnay (they can't mess up wine, right?). He asked if, since the margaritas are pre made, I would like him to add some liquor to it. I'm guessing it had none to begin with. I am still puzzled over that. He returned with this newly pumped up adult beverage and asked me to try it. I still only tasted Lime Kool Ade. I re stated that I would like a chardonnay (at least the service was good...he was trying). He returned with a tiny glass and a small bottle of cheap (aka, terrible) wine.

During this back and forth, a waitress brought us a small basket of chips and a bowl of salsa. Actually, I wasn't sure if it was salsa or soup. It was so runny, we were really only eating chips.

Our entrees finally came and looked delicious. I wish they had been. I ordered the Chilles Relleno. Greasy, and bland. The side of rice was dried out and crunchy. The only part of the meal that was decent was the side of beans.

I was shocked and disappointed at my experience at this location. I certainly won't be back. If the Hiawassee location is Bloomingdales, then this location is K Mart.
