The Scene
The pleasant swirl of incense greets you upon entering Hoypoloi, a sort of new age home furnishings store. Ambient world music percolates in the background making your visit as Zen-like as possible. Most of the items that line the display cases are handmade or produced with natural elements, giving them a one-of-a-kind feel. You'll find the usual prerequisites like chimes, candles and crystals, but it also includes ceramic and metal-based artwork, miniature waterfalls, stained glass and wine racks.
Hot Buys
The Zen Alarm Clock ($120). Or the Japanese Zen Board ($30), a painting board in which water is used to create images that disappear as they dry.
