The Scene
The look of Wolfgang Puck's restaurants--wild mosaics, non-traditional colors, open kitches--are almost as notable as his legendary California cuisine. Tables are crowded very closely together, making it difficult to maneuver a stroller or wheelchair. While waiting, look for the hidden Mickey in the multi-colored tiles over the cash register.
The Food
Start off with the assorted sushi platter, which includes tuna, scallops, lobster and various rolls. For an entree, sample one of Puck's well-known pizzas. The four-cheese pizza with goat cheese, parmesan, fontina, and mozzarella on a lively pesto sauce with sundried tomatoes is a favorite. The spicy Chinois chicken salad with honey mustard dressing is also worth trying. The spinach papardelle is a pleasing blend of textures and flavors--strips of egg and spinach pasta are combined with sun-dried tomatoes, Chenel goat cheese, basil, and double-blanched garlic cloves. The meringue Key lime pie is a tart, light finish to the meal.

I never imagined I would ever order something as simple as meatloaf from a restaurant, but I wasn't in an adventurous mood and ordered Wolfgang's. Best meatloaf ever! Now he's totally ruined meatloaf for me. Their sushi is pretty good, too. And they have smiley-face fried potatoes for the kids. Their staff are very well trained and friendly.

For a great meal at WDW, try Wolfgang Puck Cafe located in the Downtown Disney area on the West Side. The food is great. Try the brick oven pizza or one of the pasta dishes. The service is great and the prices are reasonable.

This was my third time dining upstairs (work gift certificates) and it will be my last. The food is average, I had the NY strip and my girlfriend had the lamb. Both were about average suffering mostly from high prices and sides that were better than the main dinner item (awesome horseradish mashed potatoes). Also, there isnt anything on the dessert side that is worth trying for $10-$15. In all, we spent $190 minus $75 for the certificate , minus $45 for the tip, so we definitely are not cheap rookies. My other complaint is that they do not enforce their dress code. This is okay if you are eating downstairs but not if you are spending the money upstairs, not to mention, why have one if you intend to allow Disney tourists to dine there in t-shirts and shorts? The skinny of it all? Eat here if you are already there and don't want to leave the area, if not, save the gas money and dine at Charley's or Houstons where you will find a far better dinner experience, it will be cheaper and you wont regret having spent the money. Better yet, eat at Coq Au Vin and fall in love with a true Orlando treasure.
