Forgive me father for I have sinned....... If you have ever imagined what it was like to be the greedy little Augustus Gloop that fell into the chocolate river from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Stepping foot into this soda fountain and ice cream shop is just as much a SINFUL experience. Prepare to repent on Sunday as this chocolate over indulgence is well worth a confession. Its great place to buy a variety of specialty chocolates at the Ghirardelli store as well as eating ice cream sundaes the size of one of Disney?s cruise liners that can be purchased at the soda fountain. Do not expect to leave this ice cream shop for Dairy Queen prices as it may not be easy on the wallet but indulging in great ice cream made with the excellence you expect from Ghirardelli chocolate is well worth the few extra bucks. Since the temptation of chocolate is widespread amongst the Downtown Disney crowd, expect a wait? and a line that possibly wraps around the building. This little sweet shop isn?t big inside so plan on getting a table first while someone else waits in line. With the cold weather for us Floridians wrapped around the corner, don?t forget that although you may not want to soothe your sweet tooth cravings with ice cream, you can always warm things up with a nice cup of hot chocolate from this place.
Best Ice Cream in Disney. Nothing more can be said about this place. the ice cream is truly outstanding. Very long lines but soooo worth the wait!!
I thought it was overpriced!. When four servings of ice cream cost $25.00 that is overpriced. I am an ice cream fanatic and although it was good I have definitely had better. I wouldn't take a whole family there if you are on a budget.
Great Ice Cream stop at Downtown Disney. With all the exciting fun hustle and bustle of the Downtown Disney enterntainment complex, the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop is a great place to have a nice ice cream or delishous chocolate desserts after shopping around or as a post retreat after watching the Cirque du Soliel show, an after movie sweet snack, etc..
Skip dinner and eat dessert. Don't ask questions--just do it. You'll thank us later..
The Scene
This cozy establishment is one-half counter-service restaurant (serving a plethora of chocolate treats, from ice cream to drinks to munchies) and one-half chocolate shop. When you enter, the wonderful smells overwhelm you (but be sure you don't forget to ask for a free sample or two).
The Menu
Order the World Famous Chocolate Sundae. We're not sure if it's actually world famous, but it should be. The store also features seven other specialty sundaes, hand-scooped shakes, malts and floats, and one or two-scoop cones. Save room for it. We're not kidding.
The Tradition
Californians know about Ghirardelli (say GEAR-ar-delly) chocolate. Opened in San Francisco in 1852, the Ghirardelli manufactory is almost as much a part of the City By The Bay as the Golden Gate and trolley cars. So it was only a matter of time before manifest destiny took the sweet stuff from sea to shining sea.
all i can say is yum!. The best hot fudge sundaes ever! And why not- its ghiradelli's-best chocolate on earth! Cute shop in downtown disney, very quaint, great to get out of the heat and sit with your sweetie or family and enjoy a scrumtious sundae!
chocolate lovers paradise!. ghirardelli is by far the BEST place to get your chocolate fix! their sundaes and shakes are great! and their candy bars....OH MY GOD!
