Orlando >5 & Diner
"5 and Diner" in Orlando has
permanently lost my business. From now on when anyone mentions that restaurant, I will spit on the ground. I would eat baboon bowel before I set foot in the 5 and Diner again. Eating at the 5 and Diner is, in my opinion as a food expert, like competing on a 1950's-themed FEAR FACTOR and losing every round. If 5 and Diner were a person, I would name that person Pol Pot.
Absolutely the worst dining experience I have had in Orlando. "Your son needs to order something else, because all of our corn-dogs are moldy." ACTUAL QUOTE.
Needs help in the kitchen (poor inventory management and cooking)!!.
I had visited this establishment a few Sundays ago with a group of friends, and the restaurant was out of malts... not cool for a 50's diner. We went again this weekend and asked the hostess who assured us they had the frozen treats. Yet as soon as we tried to place the order -- Denied! A coincidence? Perhaps, although the fact that our server was literally laughing at our frustration and not appeasing our pleas for coupons certainly didn't help. He went on to recollect a recent occasion when the diner had actually run out of milk! How do your prepare and serve breakfast food without that basic commodity?!?
Anyway, we hoped the arrival of the food we COULD order would settle our irritation. Yet an omelette was placed on our table in such an unprepared condition that the waiter, himself, pointed it out and asked our friend if he would like it replaced. I couldn't explain why the waiter served it in the first place, if he knew it was bad AND knew we were already displeased. Myself, I ordered a medium rare burger. By this point, I was surprised to discover it was, in fact, cooked properly. I wish I could say the same for my friend who ordered one medium well, but it was so raw that it was literally bleeding onto the bun. She immediately sent it back, only to have it returned on the same bloody bun!
What was MY biggest regret of the afternoon? I was the person that persuaded our group to dine there. I will not make that mistake again.
Fun for the family. This is a great place for good food and a fun atmosphere. The theme is interesting, the jukebox is a blast for kids. I love the burgers, but the rest of the menu is solid food for the money.
Best Milkshake in Orlando!. Real icecream, REAL cream topping! So yummy! This is the cleanest diner that you'll ever eat in! The staff is friendly, and the food is great! Hamburgs, onion rings (first rate REAL onion rings), chicken fried steak! All that good arter-cloggin' stuff done right! If I had any self control, I'd eat here more than once a month because salads are on the menu, I've just never ordered one :o).
