Editorial Review for Ming Court Wok & Grille – by Mary Meehan
The Scene
View the serpentine cloud wall crowned by engraved sea-green Chinese tiles in the entryway and you know you've entered an exceptional Chinese restaurant. The interior is softly lit with candles, while glass-walled terrace rooms overlooking a lotus pond filled with colorful koi add to the mood. Ming Court's innovative menu offers specialties from diverse regions of China, and often features fresh Florida seafood. The fast and friendly service tends to back up when conventioneers take over the I-Drive strip.
The Food
Request a dim sum menu upon seating and choose from selections like chicken and rice cooked in a lotus leaf or steamed chicken buns. Or begin with a variety of appetizers such as wok-charred Mandarin pot stickers, crispy wontons stuffed with vegetables and cream cheese, and wok-smoked shiitake mushrooms topped with sauteed scallions. The entrees, including a deep-fried chicken breast served with a delicate lemon-tangerine sauce, are as entrancing as the decor.

If you're looking for an adventure in entertainment dining, regardless of how the food actually tastes, then this place is for you. If you're like me and you like good food, keep looking. We had the Fried Dumplings which were acceptable (too chewy). The chef specialty Seafood in a Szechuan Sauce was actually nice, but I've had far better (tomatoes were nice touch). The Hot & Sour Soup was solid. The Pork Lo Mein was the most tasteless Chinese dish I've ever had. Ming Court, if you're reading this, my advice is to revisit that Lo Mein recipe and stop using the spaghetti that was on sale at Publix. Service was amazing. The musicians were fantastic, a duo was playing the guzheng and erhu. I think we saw the woman playing the guzheng at the Chinese pavilion at Epcot.
Pros: Service, Entertainment, Ambience
Cons: Food, Food, Food
