Save your money. – My second time around.
the first time was 6-7 years ago. My experience was good, therefore, I went back again.
As soon as I arrived, I knew something was different & wrong.
Not too many cars in the paking lot.
Then when I walked In, the decor was exactly the same and the place had a funny smell.
My instinct told me to walked out, but I was with my entire family and since we're here............
The service was the same as last time, horrible. The attitude felt like I was honored to be served.
I think its Chinese owned now. This explains many things to me. ( I am Chinese myself, just to let you know.)
Chinese should not owned and operate a Japanese restaurant.
I wish there were a way to check who owns what.
To the food, I had better sushi at the grocery store.
I had a piece of Hamachi that I could repair a tire tube with.
Yes, they try to tell me its like that.
Save your money and sushi somewhere else.
Bad service and Bad food.
Excellent sushi. – This restaurant has been around for a while but this is actually my first time trying it. The place looks great. They have a beautiful japanese garden as you walk towards the entrance. Besides that, the service was pretty slow. I can barely understand our server, but she was very polite and nice. The sushi was EXCELLENT. They have a great variety of sushi fish and all the ones I tried were fresh.
Bad Service – It took forever to have our server to even notice my table... the only time he strolled over was when we needed our tab... And the nerve of him to include 18% grat into a party of TWO.. a word or two was needed for that... Unacceptable.
Great sushi boat – I would recommend this restaurant for a date and especially if you two were to get the early bird special (the love boat?). you get chicken skewers, shrimp skewers, a few sushi pieces, a steak that's to die for... oh it's soo good. i tried alligater tail here, too. that was off the hook! the taste of the food overall is wonderful and the atmosphere is romantic.
sub-standard sushi, bad service! – I ate here last night with a large party for a business dinner. I love sushi and have had great sushi many a time--this was NOT one of them. Saying it was average is being generous....
Even better was the fact that the waitress completely forgot to put in our COO's order. We were so busy laughing and talking that we werent exactly on top of her when it didnt come out with the rest of the food--but she didnt even realize it until we pointed it out a half an hour later!!! We had to repeatedly ask for refills and items/drinks we had already ordered.
The only redeeming quality of this place was the atmosphere. I would definiltey avoid eating here again.
Look.... – Nice Japanese koi garden, good seats and views, food were average, we had shabu shabu but not satisfied with the quality.
A wonderful dining experience! – My Japanese wife and I have been dining here for many years and have never been disappointed. The ambiance is great, including a koi pond, impeccable landscaping and enchanting background music. There are two tiako (or Japanese drums) shows nightly and the children are invited to feed the koi nightly. The customers birthday ceremony is very special. As for the food, it is Japanese, but with a Floridian influence. I highly recommend the boat for two people that includes a fresh lobster tail and tender sliced steak. I also recommend the yosanabe, which is a fresh fish stew for two, prepared at your table. I must admit, during the busy periods service can be a bit substandard, but this is not a restaurant where you expect to be in and out in less than an hour, which is so common with most American diners.
Good Food, Terrible Service – Our experience was mixed. The food and sushi was amazing, but the service was beyond terrible. We waited forever for our food and drink refills were requested numerous times without results. If you have a lot of time to kill, I recommend it because the food is very good. The manager even was embarassed at how bad the service was.
Extensive offering of authentic Japanese fare and fabulously fresh sushi served in an upscale setting. – In Short
This spacious two-tiered restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook a Japanese garden and koi ponds. An ultra-long, S-shaped sushi bar snakes its way along one side of the interior. The menu consists of both sushi and traditional Japanese dishes--such as tempura, yakitori, yosenabe, kushiyaki, teriyaki and tekka-don. Ran-Getsu's signature dish is sukiyaki, a pan-fried dish of thinly sliced beef, tofu and fresh vegetables. Shabu-shabu--beef and vegetables cooked tableside in a special broth--adds a festive twist to the meal. Sushi fanatics may prefer to belly up to the popular sushi bar and order al a carte from a long list of nigiri (fish with rice) and maki-style (rolled) sushi. The Orlando roll, stuffed with deep-fried grouper and crusted with sesame seeds, is a good choice.
Twice in two days – While attending a seminar at the Peabody I came across Ran-Getsu, I dined alone at the sushi-bar the first nite and was (custom) made a
"Mexican roll" by my sushi-chef, he was very attentive and gracious. I was so impressed that I ate there again the next evening with a friend, this time we tried alittle of everything including the Kobe beef which was delectable as was the entree of beef and vegatables cooked table side by the restaurant manager himself. The sevice was impecable every detail mastered. I look forward to dining there again next week on vacation with my husband.
