One of the best places we have been to in Sanford. My husband and I have been to the Ale house twice after a recommendation from a very good friend and we received great service and the food was wonderful. We highly recommend this place!!! We will be going every week from now on and I know we will not be disappointed!
Stay Far Away!!!. The first time I gave this branch my money was for a take out order of wings. The wings were absolutely terrible!!! It was as though they boiled the wings until they were half cooked then tossed them in sauce. Thinking this experience was a one of, I foolishly decided to go back today and try the wings again. Only this time, I would eat in and maybe things would be better. After filling our drink order, the waiter disappeared for about 30 minutes. When he appeared to take the drink order of the people in the booth behind us, we tried to get his attention but were ignored. When he returned to fill the drink order we tried to get his attention and again were ignored. Loosing patience, we spoke to a passing waiter and requested the manager come over. After about 10 minutes, we spoke to another waiter and requested the manager come over. Our waiter finally arrived with a plate of cold wings and we requested to speak to the manager. We sat there for about five minutes, hungrily staring at a plate of cold food before the manager showed up. He told us the meal would be comped, took our wings back and returned with warm wings that needed to be cooked a little longer but at this point our lunch had taken us about one and a half hour and we were too hungry to care.
Unpretentious, stick-to-your-ribs food prepared in a haven for sports fanatics..
The Scene
The Ale House is one of the state's mini-chains. All share the same basic menu, decor and commitment to tasty, far-from-fancy food. The decor is reminiscent of a sports bar, with bench-like seats and thick wooden tables. TVs are hung throughout, although the noise level remains tolerable.
The Food
Start off with the deep-fried conch fritters, a taste of Key West. The Ale House Combo--a platter of potato skins, conch fritters, fried mushrooms, mozzarella sticks and sauces--feeds a crowd. The chicken nachos are a rather bland mountain of chips under a lava slide of cheese. The baby back ribs are generously portioned, fall-off-the-bone tender and smothered in a tangy sauce. Another good bet for dinner is the blackened prime-rib sandwich. The burgers are big and juicy. The brownie hot fudge sundae is the star of the small dessert menu.
