Editorial Review for Garibaldi Mexican Restaurant – by Lynelle Lawrence
The Scene
An old fast food-type building topped by a faded red and green roof. Inside, the former stand-in-line-to-order counter has been transformed with terra-cotta tile and wooden barstools. Tile-topped tables, stained-glass ceiling fans and TVs showing Spanish-language programs complete the picture. The service is friendly and eager to please. This could be a good place to practice your Spanish, but if you don't speak the native tongue don't fret; the waitstaff is also adept at gesturing until everyone feels understood.
The Food
The extensive menu of traditional Mexican dishes includes definitions for those unschooled in the difference between tacos, tamales, tortillas and tostaguacs (tostada with guacamole and meat). On Saturdays and Sundays, "sabor Mexicano" dishes (specials), such as rico menudo, coctel de camaron and tostadas de ceviche, are added to the menu. Order the combination or the "make-your-own-because-you-asked" dinners, which give you the most variety.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoAn old drive-thru window provides a convenient way to pick up takeout orders.
The ExtrasDon't bother with dining al fresco. Although there are tables outside around a large fountain, the burbling water does little to drown out traffic noise from busy Semoran Boulevard.

My wife and I visited this restaurant over the weekend based on how much we have enjoyed the Apopka restaurant of the same name. The place was not busy but service was very sub-par. We ordered our favorites from the Garibaldi we have gone to in Apopka for 5 plus years and were extremely disappointed. The steamed vegetables in my dish were cooked to mush, the chicken was bland, and the rice was undercooked. Both of our meals just lacked any kind of taste whatsoever. This place does not compare to the friendly and lively atmosphere found in the Apopka restaurant of the same name. Not worth the money and the location makes one feel that they are dining in the middle of an intersection.
