Editorial Review for Julie's Waterfront – by Sylvia Whitman
The Scene
A "shack" painted with parrots and tropical flowers sits on the grassy shore of Lake Jennie Jewell. Most diners sit under fans on the covered deck or on the open patio, honking distance from Lucy the goose.
The Food
From cheeseburgers to veggie wraps, the menu has a split personality: part healthful and part sinful. You'll find fish grilled with potato or couscous, or beer-battered with fries and excellent coleslaw. Feeling reckless? Fried scallops--plump sea, not puny bay--wear a crunchy coat that sometimes slips off as you dip them in flavorful tartar or shrimp sauce. For something lighter, opt for turkey on a sun-dried tomato tortilla with a cucumber dill sauce. While fresh fruit accompanies most of the virtuous entrees, desserts like peanut butter pie tempt diners to splurge.

Insider Tips
When to GoIf you'd like a rare moment of quiet at Julie's, aim for 3pm-6pm on weekdays. Or come in during a downpour and listen to raindrops on the deck's fiberglass roof.

I've been going to Julie's Waterfront since it opened and have spent many happy evenings on the deck enjoying mahi-mahi and crisp grolsch beer. 10 years ago, I moved from Florida to New York, and the hardest thing about leaving Orlando was leaving Julie's behind. Each time I go to Orlando, I always dine at Julie's. The food is great, the service is attentive, the view is relaxing and the owner is charming. Aside from being a wonderful resturant, Julie's is good for the soul. The staff and patrons remind me of the Floridians I grew up with. Sitting on the deck at sunset reminds me that I need to slow down. After all this time, an evening at Julie's is time well spent. I can't wait until my next visit!!
Pros: Food, Staff, View

We have been in Julie's four times now, each time the food has been better. We met Julie, she is a very nice down to earth person, who cares about her partons. I have had the combo platter, which is very good, coleslaw is also very tasty. We ate outside three times and inside once, because the weather is too hot this time of year. Inside or out, the food is great and service friendly. Keep up the good work, girls and guys. Mike and Alyson, Orlando, Fl.
Pros: Great seafood, Nice Lake, friendly service
Cons: , plastic forks, knives, small restrooms
