Editorial Review for Brian's Restaurant – by Mary Meehan
The Scene
From the moose head in the back room to the waitresses who call you "honey," this is a classic American diner that provides good food prepared with care.
The Food
Although the lunch menu serves up burgers, hot sandwiches and specials of the day, such as meat loaf, Brian's has gained a reputation as a breakfast place. While producing a passable eggs Benedict, Brian's excels at comfort food like creamy grits, fluffy omelets packed with cheese, ham and towering stacks of chocolate chip pancakes. If you're hankering for a Southern meal, try the warm homemade biscuits covered in a thick, white sausage gravy. Order a basket of sweet rolls--dense, doughy concoctions liberally sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar--while you wait for your order.

Insider Tips
When to GoDuring the week, you can generally get a table with ease. There may be a short wait on Sunday mornings, when the restaurant gets quite crowded.

This was our first experience here and we live right around the corner. Upon arriving, we had no idea if we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated as no one acknowledge our entry. We decided to sit in a booth that was set with placemats and silverware. After being sat it took awhile for a server to come to our table. When she did arrive, the first thing she asked us was if there was money on the table. We answered no. We told her that there was a dollar on the table to our left but nothing on this table. It seemed that our answer was not good enough for her. I looked at my boyfriend and he looked at me and we were like what is up with that. Then she proceeds to take our drink order and walks away from the table. As she is behind the counter preparing the drinks for us she is complaing to her co-workers that the money that was supposedly left on the table was not there. Of course this was in a loud voice so we could hear. Her co-workers then asked which table the money should have been on and she said the table with the two guys. So now we felt like she was accusing us of taking her money. After that they all decided to put blame on the dishwasher as he "just got out of jail" and needs money for food, etc. All of this we are hearing and we both were thinking we do not need to hear anything like this. I was shocked that they would gossip about their other co-workers let alone customers. When I go into a restaurant I am there to eat and enjoy myself. I am not there to hear about personnel issues and be accused of stealing. All of the servers were complaining that they need money, etc.....and the tip she accused us of taking was $3.15. Overall, stay clear of this place unless you enjoy bad service and a gossip environment.
Pros: Good greasy food after a night of drinking.
Cons: Needs to work on customer service.

I have now given Brian's 3 chances for its breakfast to win me over during the past month and it has failed- miserably. I cannot see how this place has such good reviews unless the reviews are posted by friends/employees/owners of Brian's. The "best sticky buns in town" are nothing special, much less the best in town, and the rest of the food is below average compared to other O-town breakfast joints. Sure, Brian's is inexpensive, but so are many other similar restaurants in Orlando (Pauly's, College Park Diner, Linda's Winter Park Diner) with much better food and ambience. I will not return to Brian's.
Pros: Inexpensive
