Editorial Review for White Wolf Cafe – by Mary Meehan

The Scene
A quirky, romantic ambiance, highlighted by thick slabs of rough-cut marble serving as tables and a furry mascot (really just a big white dog) panting near the door. The place has the feel of a crowded, funky party where the food equals the company. You can even browse through a small antique shop in the back while waiting for your table.

The Food
Everything from veggie burgers to Middle Eastern fare and focaccia pizzas. For a light lunch, two can share the meaty Caribbean chicken salad, lightly accented with tangy apricot vinaigrette (ask for extra dressing). For an appetizer at lunch or dinner, pick the black bean soup kissed with onion. Three-cheese lasagna, firm pasta slathered in a lightly spiced marinara, is a dinner favorite and is served with a warm hunk of French bread. The chicken and mozzarella brioche, somewhat lost amid an oversized portion of bread, is still a tasty choice.

The Desserts
White Wolf does an outstanding job with its mousses, layer cakes, cheesecakes, and tortes. Don't miss the peanut butter and brownie ice cream pie, a lush sugar rush dripping with hot fudge, or the warm apple pie, brushed with cinnamon and topped with vanilla bean ice cream.

The Service
Glacial and notoriously slow, in part hampered by the tiny, deli-style kitchen. Fortunately the food offers many rewards for your patience.

Insider Tips

Weekend Fun

The live music usually featured on weekends makes the place hop and offers an alternative concert setting. But at times, it also makes for challenging dinner conversation.

Where to Sit

If it's crowded, and a breeze is blowing and the mercury isn't too high, definitely opt for one of the few patio tables. Perfect for people watching.

Location Location

The cafe is situated in the heart of O-Town's antique district, making it a perfect stop before or after a hard day or window shopping.

I had heard great things about this place and was extremely disappointed! The food is not impressive: nothing about White Wolf Cafe stood out as stellar. My party's order was *lost* when a fuse blew and instead of explaining it to us and offering some compensation (or even a complimentary cup of coffee!), our server ignored us for 30 minutes as she served everyone around us. No one was overly impressed with their food (our items could have been made at home for less money). Even the wine list was pathetic. When I arrived home, I called to complain and was blown off by the manager. The whole experience was extremely disappointing. I don't recommend White Wolf Cafe, and I can guarantee that I will never ever go there again.

Went this place on the word of a friend and she wasn't impressed after dinning there. Had the Chicken stuffed w/mozzarella and it was pretty good. Others in my dining party had the Spinach Lasagna but wasn't impressed. As it was told to me the cheese cake was off the charts good. Dinning on the patio in the evening makes it a quaint little spot but as other reviews I've read spoke of notoriously bad service, they certainly lived up to that. Food took for ever to come out with only a few patrons in the place. Black-Bean soup and red rice is a great starter to try though. Over all you can probably find a better spot with better food and service to eat at. The dish I had was good but not great. I'll reserve final judgement until the next time I dine there.

Pros: Affordable Pricing, Location, FriendlyStaff

Cons: , Parking in the area, Overal Food Quality
