Orlando >Christo's Cafe
This probably sounds petty, but as a
growing boy, I need my grits. I had this same conflict with the previous owner and actually stopped going to Christo’s over it. Now the new owner is continuing the same cruel hoarding of my beloved empty carbs.
When I plaintively pointed to the miniscule portion (after I had requested “plenty of grits”), the server said defensively ”I gave you a full dish.” “But grits are so cheap,” I pleaded. Then, defiantly: “I’m not the owner.” “O.K.,” I countered, ” I’ll talk to him.” “He’s not here,” she flippantly reported over her shoulder as she walked briskly away, cutting off further communication.
Of course, for $1.75 more I could have had another tiny bowl of the precious paste, but, incredibly, that would have still been inadequate! For about one penny more, they could have made me happy and avoided all this backlash.
Why be stingy with grits? I mean, it’s only the cheapest substance on Earth. I actually took a picture of the teasing little lump of (delicious) corn, which was pitifully dwarfed by my eggs and biscuit, but there is nowhere to send it.
I called today, and the owner is still not there. No email address, no Facebook messages. If he were available, I would not have to post this public complaint.
GREAT FOOD!. This place has great food, for that last in put if anyone paid $40.00 for biscuits and gravy is DUMB ASS!
Avoid all together.. I have always enjoyed Christo's until recently. I did a to go order and have never had a server so confused and downright rude. I simply wanted 12 biscuits and gravy it took five minutes atleast for this to be relayed to the server and it cost 40 dollars! I would have gone to Cracker Barrel had I known. Additionally, I was very clear of what I wanted and when the server put it in wrong the first time and I let her know politely she was very nasty with me. I will never go back to this establishment!
Great food, fast service. Gets crowded on the weekends. The food is great and the servicce is fast. Good selection on the menu.
Editorial Review. Homestyle dishes include burgers, sandwich melts, country fried steak, salads, fried catfish and more; breakfast served until 3pm.
News Flash-Now Open in W. Altamonte Springs, too!. We never made it to Christo's in College Park, but we are happy to report Christo's has opened near us on 436 just to the east of Hunt Club Blvd near Wendy's. Convenient, reasonable prices, great service, and best of all, really good food. The menu is quite extensive and includes several specials each night. Burgers are great (forget Wendy's, get a real burger.) Extensive menu of homemade sandwiches, both cold and hot open-faced, plus several southern favorites. Delicious potato salad. Even the vegetables are great here. There's a good (but typical) kids menu. And whatever you do, don't forget dessert. Everything's made on site and it shows. These people can cook! We will be going here often.
Good Homemade Food.
I live in College Park and go there about once or twice a month. The soups are great, always homemade, sometimes I crave the Eggs Benedict, not the same as traditional, they put a big peice of country ham on it instead of Canadian bacon...how good can that be? Not sure if the hollandaise is homemade, but if it is not, it sure is good.
Service is always friendly and quick, and as another reviewer said, they always recognize a regular customer there.
I am not sure if Parlee is still in the kitchen, but when she was her soups were to die for.
Trendy Location that's value inspired!.
"Christo's Cafe" is a great place for Breakfast! Come early on weekends, because their limited seating and parking will fill up fast. Youll have the option of sitting on the patio, but the hot summer months will take its toll.
Check out their assortment of Omelets, or try their great French Toast. The taste is great and the price is even better.
"Christo's Cafe" is in the trendy College Park section of Orlando, so youll find an assortment of great shops up and down Edgewater Dr., the same street "Christo's Cafe" is located on.
Tip: Why not bring your walking or running shoes and work off that big breakfast by walking to one of the near by parks in College Park, most all have their own lake.
Old fashioned diner. This is a great old fashioned diner. The folks are friendly. The food is good and made to order. They have great dinner specials too. I go at least twice a week for breakfast or dinner. There hamburger is HUGE, and pattied to order (not frozen).
YUM every time!. I go to Christo's at least once a week with friends or for a quick working lunch and it is delicious every time. Good service-they know the regulars- and excellent food-especially for the prices. Daily specials always tasty, great homemade soups and the best hamburger around. Beats Orlando Foodie Award winner 2003-Dubsdread's Tap Room by a landslide!! If you want a quick, casual meal for a bargain, go to Christo's.
