Editorial Review for College Park Cafe – by Sylvia Whitman
The Scene
Coffee shop spartan, except for real carnations on tables. In a boxy space, booths line the walls, papered in different, but complementary, colors. Service is generally okay, though a bit piecemeal.
The Food
All-day breakfasts and a hodgepodge of familiar lunches: Reuben sandwiches, spaghetti in meat sauce, wet burritos and chili. Breakfast specialties include three-egg omelettes, buckwheat pancakes and sausage gravy. Look for house-baked turkey and beef and burgers with everything from avocados to olives. Order the roast turkey--either in a hot sandwich or as dinner with stuffing and canned beans. The dinner comes buried under gelatinous yellow chicken gravy, which you may want to request on the side. Ask for American fries or hash browns rather than the disappointing wet mashed potatoes. Skip anything that isn't homemade.

I am a College Park resident. I work nights at a well known French restaurant. I enjoy going here almost every week for lunch. Sometimes I have breakfast, and yes the other reviewrs are right the omlettes are really good. I am a soup guy and I really can't tell you how good they are. If vegetable or beef vegatable is on the specials board, then order it! It is always different with what might be in it veggie wise, but it is always so good. The BLT is one of my favorite's, they have the best wheat bread. Get it toasted for sure. Service is good, but not overly friendly. They are nice, but just don't go any further than being an order taker. Although they do remember what you like.

A cheeseburger, a BLT, and a Pastreami sandwich... My daughters and I waited 45 minutes. I had hoped to turn this lunch into something positive, sopporting the local local restaurateur but it turned into a very dissappointed lunch. We seated ourselves, no problem. Only one menu was on the table we chose, we were never offered additional menus. The cheeseburger tasted like an Italian meatball, the BLT was fine, and my pastrami sandwich was possible the worst I have ever eaten. All this for $19.00. Pass on College Park Cafe.
