Orlando >Octopus Car Wash
We have used Octopus for a few years
with no major complaints. We found out recently that if you do have problems, give up all hope of customer service. We recently brought our MINI in for a wash. Our MINI has the stubby antenna (only about 2" high) and we never have removed it when going through a wash.
While our car was in the wash area, someone got in our car and drove it out and disappeared around the building. We thought they just were busy, didn't have room in the final wipe down area and took it somewhere else to be finished.
We waited and waited and waited, still no car – finally, we saw the car going through the wash again. They did the finishing and when we walked over to get it, we noticed the antenna missing. At first I thought they removed it and looked in the car; then I realized the antenna wasn’t just removed; the entire antenna base was shattered. The immediate management reaction was defensive – “oh, it wasn’t like that when you came in?” and “not our responsibility”, etc.
I resigned myself to the fact that I was going to have to buy a new base, but thought they could at least recover the antenna itself, which would save me $30. No one could find the antenna; it was nowhere to be found. They said that after they shut down for the day, they could check more thoroughly for the missing antenna, and they would call me within 30 minutes of closing.
Closing time came and went no call; I called back the next day and I got a story about how they must have written my phone number down wrong, but still no sign of the antenna. However, in a couple of day they would be cleaning the floor trench (or something) and they were sure that’s where it was – “we’ll call”; again, no call, and again, no antenna.
In retrospect, it’s seems clear that something in the wash malfunctioned/got caught, the antenna got snapped off, and they knew it. They drove the car back around because they probably thought they could fix it. When they figured out they couldn’t, they threw away the antenna (to hid the evidence), and sent the car back through and acted innocent.
I would be irritated enough, at their claim that the antenna damage wasn’t their responsibility. I just wish they had been honest enough to admit what happened and given me my antenna back; instead of breaking the base and stealing the antenna (umm, disposing of the evidence)!
They stole my designer sun glasses out of my glove department!!!!! They have thieves working there. DONT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Best!. Just had a complete detail done including headlights. I must say that this is the most professional staff at any local car wash. I had negglected my paint and didn't realize just how bad it had become until now. MY CAR LOOKS like new again. Thanks Octopus!
What a Joke!!. Broke a part on my car and wanted to repair it with used parts. Horrible management. I will be outside picketing soon.
Took my Expedition here for a complete detail. They made my car look new again! I hadn't waxed my car and the paint was starting to look dull. It shines like glass now!
The interior was very dirty too and now it looks unbelievable. I will recommend them to everyone. A very professional car wash!!
# 1 Rated Car Wash in Orlando. I have lived in Orlando for 30 years and have tried many car washes. Octopus is by far the most professional. My Lexus is my pride and joy and the staff at Octopus treats my car with professionalism and skill. I have never had a bad experience. I highly recommend Octopus especially to those with high end vehicles such as mine. 5 Stars!
If I could give Octopus Car Wash zero stars, I would..
I stopped in yesterday for a quick exterior wash on my way home from work like I do occasionally and after much deliberation, decided to give in to the $11.99 interior/exterior wash the girl said was the only option available for what I wanted.
After leaving, I looked out of my drivers side window and noticed little gashes in my window tinting. I immediately turned around and went back to show them what had happened. Upon further investigation i noticed that all 4 windows had major scratches and scuffs as well.
When speaking to the manager, he argued with me (what I could only have assumed was a dirty/sandy towel had done the damage) saying they use clean towels on every car. I informed him that I had sat outside on the bench while they were cleaning my car and watched them wipe the inner parts of my door jam, my dash, and THEN wipe my front windshield. Considering I had just been to the beach last weekend, a reason for getting my car cleaned, it only made sense to me that that was how it all happened. He continued to tell me how wrong I was and went on and on about his towels.
On top of all of this, they noticed that my car was still dirty! They told me to come back to get it rewashed the next day, free of charge, and then they would take care of me (this was after 30 minutes of going back and forth over the whole thing).
I returned today to find out that the manager had made some calls and was going to get a buddy of his to do the tinting, but I was going to have to pay for it. He was willing to pay for the labor, but the rest was my responsibility. He argued that the tinting was old anyway, so it needed to be replaced and that was MY responsibility. (side note: my tint was in excellent condition beforehand and was done by the dealership before i purchased my new car)
After much discussion on this topic, I tried to come to a compromise (a word he loved to use as a name for the "deal" he was giving me) of a refund for the poor car wash I had received and I would in turn pay the difference of the cost of the window tinting. He would have no part of it, on what he called "the principle" of it, and then basically just walked away from me.
When we were speaking, he continued to stand there and not address me directly, kept directing his answers to MY questions to a guy friend I brought along today for support and talking to him about everything like I wasn't even there, wouldn't look me in the eye, talked over me, tried changing the subject and even tried to get cute and flirty with me to lighten the mood when I became angry over the whole situation. This on top of everything angered me even more. There is nothing more frustrating than being given less respect than deserved just because you are a woman.
After discussing this with a few friends, I found out that they too had had problems in the past with Octopus Car Wash. One friend had all of his change stolen out of his ashtray, another friends gas card had been stolen and $300 worth of charges had been made on it, and yet another ones door handle had been broken off, all of which had been denied by management and not taken care of when brought to their attention!
If you value your vehicle or money at all, PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!
Don't go here!.
I spent $40 to get the car detailed, fully cleaned -- cracks, crevices the whole kit and kaboole but there is still a lot of dust and sand in the cracks and crevices. The windows edges are dirty! The passenger seat and trunk weren't vacuumed. The interior looks like someone took a bottle of mineral oil and threw it around my car. The exterior still has dirt on the bumper and the back window is streaked!
The reason I went was to get done it professionally and that farthest thing from what I got.
I had to go home and clean the car myself. And no I didn't bother asking them to fix or refund - I'd seen enough and didn't want them to even try to fix it. I won't be back. Lesson learned.
awesome, awesome carwash!! By far the best in town! We've been going there for years, the staff and
management are so friendly and helpful, really makes you feel good. I recommend everyone to go there!!!
