Stick-to-your ribs, homecooked Puerto Rican and Cuban food has made this humble diner an Orlando favorite. With plenty of greenery, a family atmosphere, and a simple but well-prepared menu, Medina's proves food doesn't have to be fancy to be good. You won't find any sun-dried tomatoes on anything here, just the basics blended in memorable ways.
The Food
Roast pork, marinated in garlic and onions and dished up with white rice and black beans, is a house specialty. Also sample the Medina steak, a generous portion marinated in garlic and onions and served with crisp curly fries. The yellow rice and chicken accompanied by sweet plantains also merits a taste. This isn't a place for anyone in the anti-garlic camp, and keep in mind that the food is much better than the service. If you go, prepare to linger over your meal.

This is a long-established refuge for Cuban food lovers (with pictures on the wall to document the many famous visitors who came here). Prices, however, are no longer inexpensive and service can be slow. The rice and beans are excellent, but meat dishes are uneven in quality. There's also not a lot to choose from.
