Little Saigon restaurant on Colonial Drive, Orlando, Fl – The dishes did not appear to be clean. My husband said, 'looks like water spots from dishwasher' .. so we wiped them off. Had to wait a long time and the place was not busy but this is true of all the VN restaurants with one exception of ne in the downtown area... The food was 'artisticl and okay but Im not at all happy with the way the dishes didn't look clean and the service was poor.
Orlando does not have good VN food... If you want reallly good VN you'd have to go to Fort Worth Texas. The same goes, by the way, with sushi.
Requires Improvement – We have been going to Little Saigon for years. We have always loved their summer rolls and noodle dishes. The dishes have always been excellent. Great value for the dollar. Over the years the place had started to look a bit worn but those summer rolls and peanut sauce kept us coming back. They did spend some times updating the place and it is looking much better, however there are some matters that do concern me quite a bit regarding the cleanliness of the place. We had lunch there about 8 weeks ago and I remarked how the place seemed a little dirty. My husband did not really notice so I did not dwell. However, we went back yesterday and there is no mistaking the problems I saw. They had rust orange table clothes on the table. It does make the place look nicer but when I sat down I was disturbed by the chunks of food and stains on the table cloth. There is a glass top over the table cloth and then the sides hang down. So where they hang down touch your hands and clothes. That cloth had been there for multiple days. In addition, the top of the glass top was dirty and smeared and the little spoons in the pickled chile sauce had chunks of foreign matter on them that had obviously been there for some time. Our beloved summer rolls showed up at the table skinny and looking not much like their former selves. The staff was disinterested and we saw little of them. When I said something to the manager about the dirtiness of the table cloth as I was checking out, he said "yeah, okay" and went on having his conversation with work mates. There are many good options in this area working hard for your patronage. I would suggest trying some of them until this team works out some of its disinterest.
Best Pho in Town – I always go here for great pho. The food is very tasty and affordable. Don't expect great service, but let's be honest service usually isn't great a pho places anyways.
Ehh, if you've ever had good Viet then you DO NOT want to go here!! – I did some searching and it appeared that this place was very good based on other reviews. If this is the best Orlando has to offer for Vietnamese they are missing out. The reviews that give this place a 5 are just blinded by ignorance. Get out and try some good places!!!
Had the Summer Roll and Grilled Shrimp over Vermicelli Rice noodles. The summer roll was beat as it was warm, there was hardly any pork or shrimp inside of it, mostly just more rice noodles, and the sauce was peanut butter based as opposed to hoisin based. The grilled shrimp were sparse and the bowl had little in the form of fresh herbs. All in all a lackluster meal but it was inexpensive. The roll should be cool and crisp, a much lighter sauce with peanuts on the side/on top to increase the flavor as you see fit (and I like it with lots of peanut flavor but PB based sauces that are too heavy just do not go with the roll) and there should be more shrimp with better fresh ingredients.
Compared to what is in Philly and the surrounding suburbs Little Saigon was sub-par.
Vietnamese Food On the Fritz!!!!!!!!!!! – I?ve been to the ?Little Saigon Restaurant? on two different occasions. The first occasion I was impressed with the tastiness and presentation of their ?Pork Vermicelli Noodle Dish,? but was disappointed on the quantity of Pork they included, and the Waiter?s help was very disappointing. There were three of us, and we only saw the waiter twice, once taking our order, and again when he brought us our food. He didn?t even give us our check at the end of dinner, we had to go to the front counter to pay and let them know what we had for Dinner. The second occasion at this restaurant I ordered a ?Spicy Pork Soup? the soup was excellent and actually very filling as an entree and the presentation was exceptional as well. This time our waiter was very courteous, attentive, and kind.
The restaurant has a casual atmosphere with no frills, but is relaxing to visit. Most parking is in the rear of the restaurant and you can enter the restaurant from the rear or front entrance. Overall I?d give this a Low Average rating for customer service, a well deserved Recommended rating for the quality and presentation of food, and High Rating for a casual atmosphere styled restaurant.
Lousy service, atmosphere, & food....worst Vietnamese restaurant experienced in years! – If you're looking for a dining experience, this is not the place to go. The restaurant lacks any ambience with its ultra-bright lighting and cafeteria-style seating. We were completely rushed by the waiter. When we asked for suggestions, he quickly and gruffly blurted out the number of a particular dish, obviously trying to rush us into making a decision. We asked if they had any spicy dishes, and he quickly pointed out a soup. When we asked if he could recommend a non-soup item, he said they had nothing. I wouldn't have cared if he wasn't so rude with his impatient responses. We ordered some summer rolls while we ordered, and they were on the table in 5 minutes. In retrospect, we should have left right around then, because we really wanted a nice, relaxing meal. Also, the menu shows pictures of the meals, but without much more than a basic description of the main ingredients. Nothing actually looked apetizing (and we LOVE Vietnamese food). My chicken and vegetables meal wasn't much more than that...very plain, with little sauce or flavor...not unlike your average food court chinese food. My friend's beef vermicelli had little meat, with little pizazz. In fact the portions we received were probably smaller than that of any other Vietnamese restaurant we have ever been too. We were finished with our meal within a half hour of arrival, with little to no attention paid to us by the waiter. Perhaps if I was looking for a quickie lunch meal before heading back to work, this restaurant might have at least been considered functional at best. However, as I was excited about an enjoying an evening eating out, this experience was a major buzzkill and a waste of my money. I would have complained about the service, but you definitely get the impression from this place that finding someone to talk to would take considerable time, and your efforts would be wasted. I will absolutely never go back to this restaurant, and advise others to go elsewhere.
...Thanks for the memories! – aaahhhhh ... what memories your fragrant delicacies evoked in this old combat colonel's soul as he sat in the midst of your bright and colorful restaurant that Saturday morning. The smells stirred memories of more than 30 years, and brought tears to my eyes as I remembered my Montagnards, their laughter and their eagerness to learn, the years just rolled by... as I sat there and munched my appetizers and drank the hot tea. I thank you for that time ... and those memories!
A serene setting with some of the city's best Vietnamese cooking. – In Short
Area-Vietnamese residents and non-Vietnamese diners crowd this local favorite on busy Colonial Drive. The dining room--dominated by a tank packed with tropical fish--is an oasis of quiet even when it's full. Servers explain unfamiliar menu dishes and are good at steering novices away from acquired tastes. Most guests start with summer rolls and move on to traditional dishes, like rice vermicelli with grilled meats or a large bowl of pho. Save dessert for a sweet splurge elsewhere.
Great Value! – Large portions of wonderful food at great prices. A regular lunch spot for many of us at the office.
