Kansas-based restaurant started in 1972 entices 30-somethings and families with a flashy menu, inventive drinks and chic, but accessible, decor..
In Short
Considered a founding father of American casual dining, Houlihan's transformed its once-kitschy decor and meat-and-potatoes menu into a contemporary restaurant serving eclectic cuisine. Geared toward a slightly more upscale crowd, warmer colors and modern art adorn the walls, while Indie rock tunes and a patio leading to a walk-around bar remind you that you're not in Kansas anymore. The globetrotting menu juxtaposes classic burgers and wings with innovative selections like tuna wontons and herb-cheese stuffed mushrooms.
Great restaurant. We decided to try this place, and we're glad we did. I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about, but I think the food is great, and I don't find it over priced at all. The potato cheese soup is to die for, and the grilled chicken salad is also very good. The waitstaff are always very attentive and friendly. By the way we're in our mid 20's and I think it's way better than TGi fridays... I hate those places... So there aren't liscense plates all over the walls or pics of kangaroos,, big deal.
