Established in 1873 and still thriving, this mainstream bookseller boasts almost 600 locations and does brisk online business as well. Ubiquitous and well organized, Barnes & Noble arranges its huge book selection in 22 user-friendly categories, from Art and Architecture to Romance and Travel. Avoid this place... like the plague. It's a snake-pit. Seriously. I don't know why, but the employees in this store are some of the most hateful, conceited, vicious lot you'll ever see in any place of business. The store operates more like some catty nightmare caricature of some snotty place in France, than America. The employees are all pretentious hipster wanna-be's, and the only customers they treat with any respect are neurotic, overly-ambitious reptiles like themselves... you know, the cut-throat metrosexuals and the lot like that. And what's more, the store manager and regional manager are even worse. They know how awful their employees are, but they have this sick "pack" mentality about protecting their little "family" of snarky thugs, against "trouble-making" customers who naively think it's safe to register a complaint against them. Avoid this place. Seriously. Like the plague.
Pros: Downtown location
Cons: Hateful, conceited, abusive staff and management
