Editorial Review for Zinc Bar – by Daniel Fuller
Art Damage
While it definitely takes its design cues from the San Francisco-style sound lounges, Zinc's Art Deco-meets-techno damage aesthetic adds a few new wrinkles to downtown's developing scene. The full-service bar stretches halfway down the left wall and a row of booths line up against the right wall, while velvet-draped curtains and abstract paintings exist on others. A chandelier overlooks the medium-sized dance floor where DJs spin downtempo, ambient and harder-edged dance music.
It's Money
There is also a small room on the other side of the dance floor with plenty of red velvet couches to enjoy. The usual array of imported and domestic beer, wine and liquor is available, though bring plenty of cash because the prices reflect the bid to impress Orlando's pseudo-upscale urban crowds.
What Goes On
Zinc offers nightly entertainment themes with resident DJs and drink specials, including the smooth house sounds of DJs Daisy and Robbie Clark on Saturday and international music on Tuesday.
