Tips for Southeast Steel

May 20, 2013

I"ve bought from this place for years and always had a good experience until recently. I went there because I believed customer service and prices were good and that there was a level of service if something would go wrong.

We bought a Bosch dishwasher under their recommendation, and it in my opinion, is a lemon. Hasn't worked properly for a year now and it's only just 2 years old. Was told to contact Bosch directly and they want to charge us a service fee and parts if needed, etc. Totally ridiculous to have to buy or even service a dishwasher after 1- 2 years, especially a top name like Bosch. I will go to Lowe's or Home Depot next time and get an extended warranty. Very disappointed in the service at Southeast Steel and also in Bosch. After speaking with one of the managers about it who was abrasive and rude and raised his voice to me, I decided that I will not continue to give them my business. It's a shame because what they fail to realize is that one unhappy customer will tell 7 others and so on and so on.

I have bought appliances from here before and have always been very happy with the service. This time they went above and beyond, from the initial visit to select a washer and dryer right through until I was totally satisfied with the products. Dan was exceptionally helpful in selecting the right machines for me. He didn't try to up sell me. In fact he pointed me in the direction for the best value.

Through no fault of their own, they had to make 3 trips to my house until we were totally satisfied.

Southeast Steel has the best selection, best prices and the absolute best service.

A good experience. I just wanted to thank you and your team at Southeast Steel for the excellent customer service I received today.

It all began when a very old refrigerator in our garage stopped working without our knowledge. There was meat in the freezer which thawed and began to smell horribly -- that's when we realized it was "dead".

My husband was out of town and I knew I needed to get the refrigerator out of the garage ASAP.

We had the idea to call your company for possible recommendations for someone who would be willing to pick up and dispose of the refrigerator.

I called late this morning and was quickly told that your company had a delivery this afternoon in my zip code and that your man would stop by and pick up my refrigerator! And, when I asked the charge, I was told "no charge"! My experience is that level of customer service just doesn't happen anymore.

My refrigerator was just picked up -- and I am delighted!! We have purchased appliances from Southeast Steel in the past and I assure you will again in the future!

Thank you so much for the kindness your company showed to me. You are all to be commended!

Please don't spend your money here-no return or exchange per. Bought over $4000 of appliances. I didn't realize they do not exchange an appliance if it is delivered to you broken from day 1. The manager told me that was what the warranty was for.... Now I'm stuck with a brand new broken dishwasher that needs to be repaired. I am very disappointed and frustrated. I just took a day off from work to have the appliances delivered and now I have to take another one to have my BRAND NEW broken out of the box appliance repaired. The manager told me I was being ridiculous to want the appliance exchanged when GE would come out and fix it...once Southeast Steel has your money you have no recourse. When I called GE the service department was very surprised that the store did not exchange appliances that were delivered not functioning properly....

RUN, DON'T WALK - AWAY. Do not give this business a second of consideration. Like the previous review, you are your own should your appliance not work properly, there is ZERO customer service after they collect your money. I purchased a washer/ dryer set from them, out of the box the dryer never worked properly. I was not a new cutomer of theirs, having purchased several appliances before, when I approached them to resolve the problem for me, the owner ( who, by the way, insists on being addressed by the customer as "MR.") told me to contact the manufacturer. I did, they were out to my home 3 times and never resolved the problem. I called the owner, I went into the store to plead with the owner, HE COULD CARE LESS! What this old business fails to acknowledge is that we live in modern times and they are not the only player in town anymore. You have options, take my advise and exersise them. I have had better service with internet companies, not to mention their competion around town. To take a line from their slogan, remember, "At Southeast Steel you will NEVER get the best deal".

Do not shop here! Terrible customer service!. We bought a stove here recently, and when it was delivered, it was all rusted underneath as if it had been sitting in water. We called Southeast Steel, who said it wasn't their problem, to call the warranty repair people. We were a little taken aback by that, but we did it and they came to look at it. They said the entire casing would have to be replaced and that they should just replace it since it was just purchased, so they said Southeast Steel would get back to us. They got back to us and said they wouldn't replace it, that we had to get it repaired. My husband said that he was disappointed at that, that we bought a new stove and didn't expect to have it repaired right away...and the manager basically said, that's life, sometimes things are defective and we don't replace them. He actually said 'that's how society is today'! He got quite hostile with my husband about the fact that they don't do business that way and it was too bad that our stove arrived rusty. So now, it'll be fixed but who knows if it will work as new, and we're really angry at the awful customer service. Who sells defective merchandise and refuses to replace it??? We'll be telling everyone we know not to shop there!
