I could've given this review by their robotic phone prompt/review asking me for a survey; but didn't have time at the time, which was before the whole experience was finished, so that call to me was untimely. We were excited that a man came the same day, on a Saturday of all days; harder to get. All others I called before them either were closed of very unproffesional upon answering the phone, answering simply "hello?" or who dis? (i am not joking, grammar as a first impression is not some of these guys' eyes. I had to ask most, "are you a glass repair service?" to be replied by some barely translatable "yeah-ah."
I had a lower pane of a kitchen window above a sink broken; to do it myself would require buying the whole window, not just the sash, at a large box store and install it myself, or pay a more hefty fee to install it than to have Glass Doctor fix it. The nice surprise was the prompt same-day visit of the man who measured the window, and gave details of quote and repair.
Which turned out to be (repair) false.
It was Saturday, the rep told me it WOULD be ordered Monday, arrive Tuesday, and I WOULD BE CALLED Tuesday first thing in the morning to schedule that day's repair.
The glass had to be ordered; by law after the hurricane season of '04 glass over sinks and other areas are required to be 'tempered' (that is, when broken, would shatter into small cubes, less dangerous that possible large shards that could cut you.
I called Monday, stated what the rep said and was profusely apologized to by a manager of sorts, that that quote of that time frame should not have been given by the rep, due to order dalays' uncertainties. In fact, the manager told me, the rep had been spoken to on this matter before - - NOT to give people false dates of installs beyond his control. Okay, I forgave that without any anger (though I had planned my week around the 'quote' scheduled.
The glass would not be ready until FRIDAY, not Monday.
Because it has to be tempered, and pass a 'Glass Doctor quality control inspection' upon arrival to the company.
Well, it arrived, and luckily I had a cleaning lady at the house at the hours & time needed to be, to let the repair man in.
Next, week, I get a call, stating the window installed was NOT TEMPERED; THEY HAD INSTALLED THE WRONG TYPE OF GLASS, after having my wait days on end for the perfect piece of glass.
Finally be the end of the second week, the proper tempered glass was installed. Quality workmanship? A plus. Time to get the job done? TOO LONG. The DISSAPOINTMENT of the false confidently-given info given by the first rep outweighed the positives of this experience.
I was hoping for same day (or next day service, for this broken lower pane sash). Is this possible or impossible in this business? I couldn't tell you, for the amount of unprofessional, rube-like sounding people that DID answer the phone on a Saturday, drove me into the service of Glass Doctor, who's answering service does have it together.
Just seemed like a bad joke to be told one thing and not have it resolved until two weeks later.
Installed the wrong pane of glass at first. Good God. The hazards of regular glass being above sinks and in doors and low-to-the-ground windows, is they can shatter in large harm-causing shards, if blown in by a storm and you can't get out of the way.
I am glad for the apologies and that they realized their mistakes, but seriously, with all this drama perhaps a reduction in the bill would have been a nice act of contrition.
