See the largest Tiffany collection in the nation and an equally mesmerizing collection of paintings and sculpture..
The Scene
With its exterior of sheer white walls and block architecture, this museum stands out considerably from its less monolithic Park Avenue surroundings. Inside, its many spacious chambers and dark-wood rooms provide a unique mixture of gothic appeal and family quaintness.
The Collection
The collection of Tiffany glass is the largest in the nation and includes lamps, wall hangings, furniture, murals and mosaics. Its restored Byzantine Chapel is one of the true marvels of the art world. The museum also houses the Morse family's turn-of-the-century collection, which contains portraits by Singer Sargent and company, Hudson River pieces, Rookwood Pottery, John Rogers pottery and late 19th-century impressionism. Manual light controls accompany the murals allowing guests to control the amount of light shown through them with each setting adding new depth to the pieces.
Breathtaking Tiffany Glass. The Morse Museum in Winterpark, Florida is one of the finest and most elegant museums in the United States. It features the fabulous glassworks of Louis Comfort Tiffany, the grand master of leaded glass. But this museum features much more than stained glass. It is impossible to truly appreciate the work of this great artist in just one visit! But find out for yourself...but leave plenty of time to browse both the museum and the gift shop!
non-objective captions. This museum is the perfect size for a morning or afternoon outing. I alos really enjoyed the captions under each piece of artwork with personal commentary.
Very cool. Even an 8 year old can handle this one. The art is close enough to touch, though you are asked not to.
