Avoid at all costs.... First... Let me qualify this review by saying that I have been a regular lunch and dinner patron at Thai Place for over 6 years. I travel to Winter Park regularly on business, and always made it a habit to eat there at least once when I was in town (sometimes many times...). I was disappointed to hear that the management had changed, but figured, after not having been in there for close to 8 months that I'd give it a shot. Service... Nominally attentive... Nothing like it was... The new decor is semi-industrial... Interesting, but not really "traditional". The food... Absolutely noxious. I ordered Tofu Pad Thai, figuring that this was probably the least risky thing to try under the new management. When I finally managed to get past the scent of what was, apparently, BBQ sauce (yep... That's what it smelled, and tasted, like), I was startled to find that the tofu had been sitting for some time, and was, in fact cold, in stark contrast to the rest of the dish which was SUPER hot (yep... I suspect that the plate spent some time in the microwave...) The noodles were broken, and the portion (given the increased price) was fairly small. I tried hard to finish the meal (I was starving, having just come from the airport), and then promptly ran away. I'm disappointed at the death of what was a WONDERFUL Thai restaurant. I can't count the number of people that I've managed to drag in there over the years. A true disappointment...

We found the original owner in the Villages, Lady Lake. I've been to this restaurant since it;s new owners took over and had a decent experience, like the new decor, but it;s missing the personal touch that its original owners provided, and had resolved to find where the original owners went. Through the grapevine, we had heard he was in the Villages, and so this weekend we undertook to seek out the new restaurant. We did indeed find it; it;s called SIAM ORCHID in LADY LAKE at 1561 Bella Cruz Drive, the Villages, Florida 32159. They are open 7 days a week, and right next to the Denny's on 441/27 just a bit up from the walking bridge on 441 in the Villages. We had a great experience, same food, same great owners, same attentive service. The new location is a converted chain place, quite a bit larger, but still the same sense of a family owned business. It has a large open kitchen, and the feeling is intimate, but bright and open. We loved it. From Orlando, you can take OBT (441) all the way to his door - about 55 minutes, I think. Well worth our effort, and we will be back. The place was packed on a Saturday night, and they are in their busy season. Tons of snowbirds in town. I had the green curry beef and my partner had hot basil chicken.

No longer good. The Thai Place used to be AMAZING. However, ever since the new management took over a couple months ago, it is no longer better than any of the other places in town. Their curry is now bland and none of the dishes have that special flavor they used to. They should replicate the old owners' recipes, then the place might be good again. It's so sad! I want Old Thai Place back!

Great food!!!!!!! Try it. I'am a huge fan of Thai food, I have been to Thai Place for many times. However, I saw the sign, they r under new management with good promotion free Spring Rolls with the meal. We decided to try it!!!!!

They r still served complimentary salad as useual. Service fast and friendly. We try Coconut Shrimp for appetizer, followed by sew special dish "Smoky Claypot." It was wonderful....... My friend ordered Thai Peanut curry the recipes have a little bit changed but very tasty. The atmosphere is better than before (New Tables.) If you want traditional........ Try Try Thai Place.

Horrible since under new management. Aghhhh!! What a shame.... This used to be the BEST Thai food in Orlando. I used to visit this place at least twice a week for years... Since new management took over, the quality of both food and service has gone completely downhill. As I'm sure they'll come to realize, the place is empty compared to the massive amounts of people they used to have in there every night. Kinda sad, but I just created this account to complain... The prices have gone up, recipes have changed, service is horrible. You definitely cannot replicate a good thing. When trying to get a small plastic container of extra peanuts for my meal...I was told I would have to pay $1.50!! Normally complimentary salads came with every takeout meal....not any more. The Peanut curry tastes way too sugary. Pad Thai s*#@s. Red curry is c@#$. We lost an unbelievable Thai Place. Try it if you dare...but compared to the previous management, this place deserves two thumbs down. We miss you Mr. Boone!!

Thai Place is now a memory.... I had been a huge fan of Thai Place, sometimes going to luch twice a week there. Recently I visited and ordered my favorite dish, Shrimp Lad Na, and right away I knew something was wrong. It was horrible. My 2 friends who were having lunch with me, also ordering their usual Red Curry, were also disappointed. We found out, upon leaving, that the owners had sold the Thai Place. Sadly, our favorite lunch spot is gone forever.

Not as good as other local Thai food. Recently visited Thai Place for 2 reasons. I wanted to see what all the hoolpla was all about and also because they don't close at 2:00 pm like some of the other local Thai restaurants do. They serve lunch until 3:30 pm. which is real plus. They immediately place a small salad consisting of lettuce, tomato and cucumber with a pretty tasty peanut dressing which is a nice touch. The service was very attentive but the Tom Yum Goong and the Pad Krapow just wasn't as good as Thai House or Royal Thai. Twice I bit into some sort of herb in the soup that I had to dispose of immediately. That kind of ruined the rest of it. I didn't like the big chunk of tomato in the soup either. I don't believe I will go back. I'll stick with the restaurants where I know I wiil be satisfied everytime.

BEST!. I agree, this is my favorite. Service is excellent, and I haven't tried anything on the menu I haven't loved. Try the Thai Iced Tea, Peanut Curry and Coconut Ice Cream for dessert. Amazing! Plus (for me) the portions are more than enough, meaning I can take home and enjoy for another meal.

Best Thai food. Period.. You can't ask for better service or better food. The setting itself is not particularly nice (in the K-Mart shopping plaza, next to a place called "Gypsy Nails" (heh), kind of dark and cluttered inside) but I prefer this restaurant to literally any other Thai place I have ever been to. The staff are very friendly and the food is excellent. I recommend the peanut curry!
