The Scene
This tiny corner restaurant has five tables inside and a couple on the patio. Baskets and a few Caribbean paintings decorate the bright yellow walls.
The Food
Jamaican-born Phoebe White serves up home-style Caribbean and Southern dishes, from patties and wings to oxtails and pork chops. Ample entrees come with a salad assembled as you sit, fried plantains, a vegetable (hope for cabbage or collards) and a choice of rice. If you enjoy breathing fire, ask for Phoebe's special hot sauce; the standard spice blends are flavorful but surprisingly mild, especially the jerk chicken.

Curried goat--tender and so delicious. Though humble in appearance, the bread pudding--with vanilla, raisins and optional rum sauce--tastes grand.
