Very Disappointed..
My wife and I decided to go for my birthday late last year. We made reservations, but still had a long wait.
After we were seated, we waited again. Wait for drinks, wait to place our order, wait for our appetizer. Now, I am not an impatient person, however we were flat out abandoned. It soon became apparent that the staff was badly overextended.
We waited so long after completing our appetizer, that I finally had to grab one of the busboys going by and have him clear our table. We waited so long the manager refilled our drinks.
When we finally got our meals, my steak was gray, I ordered it medium. Oh yeah it was sizzling all right, just overcooked to the point of being destroyed.
I guess this is one restaurant that just doesn't live up to the hype.
Loved it, again.... Been to all of the high end steak houses in Orlando and this one in Winter Park stands out. Tried the sweet potatoe casserole last night and it's out of this world good. The T-bone is huge and my favorite as you get the strip on one side of the bone and filet on the other-2 steaks in one served on a hot sizzling plate. My wife goes bonkers over the tuna but for me when you come here it's for the steak. The waiters know their stuff and the manager even visited our table to help us pick an appropriate wine-let us sample 3 until we found the perfect one we both liked. I appreciate the personal attention to detail. Many so-called "fine dining" restaurants have taken mediocrity to heart and it's refreshing to know that Ruth's Chris makes dining out an experience worth repeating again and again.
It was Worth A Go, But Way Overpriced. Everyone got steak but me and my daughter. The grouper was undercooked like sushi, so I had them cook it more but it was still rubbery. None of the entrees came with a side and everyone wants a different side so the many different $7-9 sides drove up the bill for 4 adults. A 276 bill would have been fine if it were spectacular, but it should have been half that. My favorite part of it all was the apple crumb tart, soo belicious.
Has it all.... Being a frequent restaurant diner, as well as a steak lover I always seem to leave Ruths Chris happier than when I came in. The steak is superb. The sides are almost family style sized-large enough to share. The service is consistent and the feel of the place is very upscale. We eat out at least 3 nights a week and Ruths Chris has gone from a once a month place for us to once a week! It is that good.
Very Greasy. After ordering the ribeye on the waitresses recommendation I found the steak to be full of fat. When cutting the steak the butter they cook it in makes it very greasy and not very tasty. The side dishes were good, and each side was large enough to share. After trying to figure out which steak belonged to whom, the server did not have the meals in the right spot. There are many other steak houses that you drive by to go to this one. I say do yourself a favor and stop at another steak house.
Ruined my Valentine's Day plans. Their online reservations allowed me to book for Feb 13th.. I wanted to take my significant other for a special dinner. I called a couple of hours in advance to see what the best time would be to arrive. How surprised was I to find out I had no reservation! The hostess said the online reservations were closed for a while yet I was able to book them earlier that week.. end product was they were full. The manager offered we could come in and wait to see if there was a cancellation, by that time I was upset with the entire ordeal and declined the offer. Thank you Ruth's Chris for ruining our Valentine's Day. I will not step foot in either of their locations in Orlando and you can bet I won't be recommending them to anyone.
One Word- WOW!. I was "wowed". I have heard how good this place was from others but never tried it before last Friday. And we will be back. If you are looking for the best steak in town- this is the place.
The Best Steak Ever!!!. 6/11/04- My husband and I decided to go have a nice dinner to celebrate. We arrived there at 8:00 pm and were seated in 10 minutes and we did not even have reservations. Our waiter was awsome very pleasant and friendly explained the menu to us with great details. We had every course and I have to say every time one would come out it would be better and better than the last. I've never had such wonder steak I was able to cut it with my fork of how tender it was. Believe me when I say I NEVER USED MY KNIFE! I recommed this restaurant to everyone you have to try it.
Not So Great. Maybe we went on a bad night but we had 8:00 reservations and were not seated until after 9:00. The staff didn't seem to really care very much about our wait when my husband inquired into the hold up. It wasn't until he finally asked for the manager that anyone acted interested. He did ofcourse by us a round of drinks but for an over an hour wait that still didn't seem like enough. I must say that the best part of the evening was our waiter. The food was average especially for the prices. You do get a good amount of food but again the flavor was mediocre at best. Ambiance was no better. I think they had every light in the place on. Not very romantic at all. Overall defiantely not worth a $250.00 bill!
Winter Park or Sand Lake. If you want either the Winter Park or Sand Lake/Dr Phillips area locations you are in for a treat. Sizzling tasty steak and the best side items served up with class and first rate service. Try key lime pie for dessert!
