Editorial Review for Wekiva Springs State Park – by Glenn Mobley
The Scene
Within this state park is Wekiwa Springs, a cold crystal clear natural spring which pumps approximately 42 million gallons of water each day. The springs winds through acres of state-protected Florida vegetation, making it an excellent site for hiking and canoeing.
The Features
Canoes can usually be rented, but keep track of your journey as the trail is 24 miles long. On quiet days you may hear the spirits of the many Native Americans, including the Timucuans and the Seminoles, who used to live along the river banks. There is a nominal entry fee and camping is limited, so call early. The park gets crowded on weekends, so weekdays are better for solitude and romance.

Wekiva Springs is a must for anyone who wants to see the natural side of Florida. We've had many visitors, and all of them are taken on a canoe trip down the river at Wekiva Springs, where more often than not, we see alligators sunning themselves on the shore while floating by. There are a lot of things to do and see in the Orlando area, but hands down, everyone who has come to visit us has enjoyed their canoe trip the most.
Pros: canoe trip, natural springs
