FUNDUE

We have been several times and love the atmosphere that CF provides for dates. We have never been dissatisfied with our food.

We last went in October for my daughter's birthday. We took all of the kids and grandparents for this trip. Usually it's just us. Let me just say...at 4 year old and a pokey long stick...not a good thing. The older kids did fine and loved it. Now they expect that this is where everyone gets to go for his/her birthday. Our Daughter had her picture taken with their Moose and they printed it out for us to take home. We made our reservations on a Tuesday for Thursday night and were seated at a great table. We were even told how best to get our money's worth with kids. We were surprised that they were trying out something new...instead of just "fondue for two" including Salad, Appetizer (cheese fondue with fruit, bread and veggies), meats, and veggies, Pasta and bread service....they did a little rearranging of the meats and added dessert as part of the special. What a pleasant surprise.

These are things we've learned... it usually takes 2 stones to get through the meat cooking. Try not to over eat during the appetizer portion if you hope to make it to dessert. They will bring more of whatever you run out off if you still have dip, and Chocolate Fondue does reheat if you are too stuffed and have to take it to go.

While the Chocolate Peanutbutter dessert is good...the Sambuca maccadamia nut one is better. A four year old should not be given a long pokey thing.

• Cons: Reservations on a weekend are a MUST

sterno fondue, inadequate cooking methods, horrible value and this was at Prime Time!

Colorado Fondue has a reputation for being "almost" as good as The Melting ?.. My experience was not even close to other dining experiences with Fondue. Let me start by saying the decor is nice, and a private room is available. The Hostess was standard and welcoming. The trouble with CF is the method of cooking, the quantity of food, and the health requirements that can be easily violated. Don't make the mistake of comparing this fondue to any other, this is not fondue. Beef, seafood, and chicken are "cooked" on a hot stone tablet brought to the table. This cooking process cannot possibly cook all of the food that you are given. By the time we were half through the tablet was not even sizzling water!, the waiter was no where to be found, and it seemed as if the entire wait staff was swamped on a Saturday night at 6 pm. Our waiter spitted out the directions as mumbling and rushiong through the entire learning curve of the hot rock cooking style. They bring a stockpot of chicken broth to cook beggies, pasta, and a pierogie in? What is this? Who dreamed up this concept? The rock for cooking is 6x6 inches. Try cooking on a pan that size one entire meal. It's a joke. The cheese appetizer fondue was tasty but about 1/2 of the portion of Melting ?. It is also not prepared at your table. It is placed on a can of sterno. Certainly not what you expect for a 50 dinner and 15 dollar dessert and a add on side of lobster. I love Sushi but not at a fondue restaurant for a special occasion. Next time for Fondue the odds on favorite will get my dollars. We can't comment on the dessert as we we're afraid we had consumed raw meats and went home to have stomach distress! I also had to go home because the one men's restroom had one toilet! How can that be legal? This restaurant appears to seat at least 80 people. Next time I will know better. Total bill was $78.00 no alcohol and no dessert!

Best fondue in town

I've been to both the MeltingPot and Colorado Fondue, and I have to say I much prefer Colorado Fondue. The service is better, the atmosphere is much more relaxed (I think The MeltingPot is too stuffy and formal to really enjoy yourself), and the food is delicious. I've been at least a dozen times over the past decade or so, and I've always had a good meal. Don't be afraid to ask for a new hot rock while you're eating your entree. While every course is worth trying, definitely save room for desert. And make reservations!
