The Scene
Outside, Amira's modest white exterior and blue roof make it barely discernible from the furniture and hardware stores that surround it. Inside, visitors are greeted by a large, glass deli counter and a dining room filled with blue Formica tables and fluorescent lighting.

The Food
Expect no-nonsense cuisine: enormous sandwiches, hearty soups and lavish desserts. Sandwiches come packed with fresh deli meats (made on the premises) and are bookended with thick slices of homemade bread. Side dishes include a variety of traditional and not-so-traditional choices, such as fries, coleslaw and, for the more daring, eggplant relish. Definitely order the pastrami, which is peppery, lean, delicate and perfectly cured. The soups, particularly the matzoh ball and the heavenly mushroom and barley (when it's on the menu), are some of best comfort foods in Central Florida. But pass on the corned beef. Although it's well-made, you can find better variations in the area, especially for the price.
