Tips for Sam Seltzer's Steakhouse

Leave your appetite at home.. I hope you're not hungry when you decide to go to Sam Seltzer's. I ate here about 3-4 weeks ago, but finally decided to write a review. So, there may be some missing details.

When I walked in, it looked nice. Opening up the menu and looking at the food, I saw a tasty selection. They started off with some bread, which turned out to be the best thing. Prime rib is featured in the menu as a specialty. It had a big picture and everything, so, I decided to try it. I wanted to try their crab cake add-on and went with the 8oz. cut. Now, I don't know if their larger cuts would be thicker and juicier, but this was thin and tough (I ordered it medium). It looked like a cut of steak one would get for breakfast with a Steak and Eggs meal. It didn't really taste like much either. The sauteed mushrooms were gross. They looked a little old as they had dark spots on them and didn't taste right. The crab cakes were just as disappointing. They were breaded and had a very similar texture to frozen fish sticks. Not very crabby, either.

My girlfriend ordered the Pecan-crusted salmon with a tangy mango salsa. When one thinks of pecan-crusted fish, one would imagine finely chopped nuts, similar to breading. These were chunks of pecan, like on a sweet roll. The tangy mango salsa was more like a sweet maple syrup. There were soft chunks of something in the mixture of pecans and syrup (the mangoes?). If I fed this to my cat, I think he would've clawed my eyes out in my sleep for revenge. The end of the filet was weird looking. It was tough and separated or almost cut. Maybe freezer burn? She also got creamed spinach and a sweet potato. The creamed spinach was runny and not creamy at all. The sweet potato was just so-so, but edible.

I wanted to complain about the food, but what would they do? Offer something else that would be just as bad? I guess I should've told them we didn't want to pay for dog food. But, we paid and left, never to return again.

Mmmm Mmmmmm Good!. Service was good. Todd, the district manager, is a definite breath of fresh air. Any chance he can open a restaurant in Maine?

YUM. Not only was the food great - Todd, the district manager, was exceptionally polite, professional and sharply dressed. He made the entire dining experience a pleasant one.

My only complaint is that I think they should serve items off the kids menu, such as chicken tenders, to adults without raising the price.

Good all around!. You can't beat Sam's for the value, friendly service, food quality and pleasant atmosphere. I was astounded to read some of the negative reviews as I've been there several times and my experience has always been very positive. Ryan is our favorite waiter & I always order either the prime rib or t-bone (medium rare). The salad, hot rolls, creamed spinach have always been prepared to perfection.

poor mangament. i have been going there because of the 10.95 special. but as always you get what you pay for. i am a restaurant manager and i know old steak when i taste it. it on special for a reason. you will get good service if you sit in the bar area. but in the dining room i have had two bad visits. anyone that would put this restaurant on the same list with ruth chris, houston's, or del frisco's is obvious never eaten at a good steakhouse and only cares about the price of their meal.

r u kidding me??????. Anybody that would rate Seltzer's higher than Morton's, Ruth's Chris and Del Frisco's has not been to a steakhouse - other than Sam Seltzer's which is only a steakhouse because it says so in its name! Seltzer's is even worse than Outback - it's the Olive Garden of the Outback - mass, mediocre food, servers looking for experience so they can work in a real restaurant & the ambience of a recently swept barn. But cheap.

Value Steaks. Sam Seltzer's is one of the best bargains in food in the Orlando area. The steaks are large and tender and high quality with a good steak ambience. I always expect and usually receive an excellent meal for a very reasonable price. Although the service is adequate it is sometimes uneven. But the value and the quality make it am excellent place to eat.

We must have better choices. Very inconsistent. Okay food for a good price but service is questionable. I have been there 4 times one great experience two very mediocre and one horrible. If a you are looking for a lot of food at a reasonable price then this is for you. Not high quality but nice atmosphere.

lousy. Food was surpassed only by the poor service. I was shocked beyond belief to see this establishment rated above Ruth Chris Steak House, makes you wonder by whom and how the ratings were done.
